The Women's Union of Nghia Hanh district (Quang Ngai province) has just coordinated with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Cho Chua town to organize the handover of a charity house to member Bui Thi Giau in Phu Vinh Tay residential group.
Ms. Giau's shelter was newly built with an area of over 50m2, costing nearly 100 million VND. Of which, the District Women's Union supported 60 million VND from the socialized source of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025, the rest was contributed by cadres, civil servants, and workers of the Party Committee, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, and mass organizations of Cho Chua town.
Due to poor health and no stable job, for many years, Ms. Giau has lived alone in a makeshift house. The newly built, solid house is a very meaningful support for her.
“Thank you for your support in building the house I have dreamed of for a long time. This is the motivation for me to strive to improve my life,” Ms. Giau shared.
With the spirit of mutual love, those who have more help more, those who have less help less, Nghia Hanh district calls for the cooperation of the entire political system and the entire population so that all people in the district can live in "3 hard" houses - hard roof, hard floor and hard wall.
Implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, up to now, Nghia Hanh district has built and repaired 108/255 houses, of which more than 60 houses have been completed.
According to statistics, Quang Ngai still has over 6,600 households in need of support to build new or repair houses. The total cost of implementation is nearly 330 billion VND, of which the state budget is over 270 billion VND, the rest is mobilized from social sources. To date, the whole province has built and repaired over 1,300 houses, reaching a rate of about 20%.
According to the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province, in recent times, some localities have been proactive, creative, and flexible in organizing the implementation, proactively advancing funding sources for implementation and achieving good results.
Ba To district alone has eliminated all temporary and dilapidated houses by March 2025. Other localities have committed to speed up the implementation progress and complete it before June 30, 2025.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Ngai province, Bui Thi Quynh Van, requested agencies, units, and localities to focus on speeding up the progress and completing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses before September 30, 2025.
"Every two weeks, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee will invite the Secretary and Chairman of the District People's Committee to a meeting to report on the implementation of projects and the demolition of temporary and dilapidated houses according to schedule. Then report to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to direct localities to proactively carry out their work," said Ms. Van.
To realize the goal that by September 30, 2025, no households in the province will have to live in temporary or dilapidated houses, recently, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Nguyen Hoang Giang signed a decision to allocate nearly 93 billion VND for localities to eliminate 2,240 temporary or dilapidated houses.
Of which, nearly 55 billion VND uses targeted additional central budget, nearly 38 billion VND is cut and saves 5% of regular expenditure in 2024 at the provincial level.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province also requested the People's Committees of districts to use more than 15 billion VND of the budget to cut and save 5% of regular expenditures in 2024 at the district level to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for local people.
Localities manage and use allocated funds for the right purposes and make payments and settlements in accordance with regulations; promptly complete the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
