Quang Nam seeks ways to stimulate domestic consumption

Established in August 2023, Binh Nguyen Agricultural & Service Cooperative (Binh Nguyen Cooperative) focuses on producing and trading pure black sesame candy, clean black sesame powder and packaged clean black sesame seeds.

This is how Binh Nguyen Cooperative takes advantage of the clean, especially delicious black sesame source produced by farmers in Binh Nguyen commune (Thang Binh) on sandy soil with a unique technical process and using only organic fertilizers.

With the main product of pure black sesame candy, each month, Binh Nguyen Cooperative supplies the market with 300kg at the price of 250,000 VND/kg for regular products and 270,000 VND/kg for diet candy.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuong Vi - Director of Binh Nguyen Cooperative said that the unit has utilized most sales channels, from e-commerce, retail at stalls to wholesale to traders and large confectionery business contacts, but revenue has not reached expectations.

Currently, Binh Nguyen Cooperative is cooperating with 20 households in Lieu Thanh village (Binh Nguyen commune) to produce black sesame on an area of ​​5 hectares. People who cultivate according to the organic black sesame growing process will be purchased at a more preferential price than the market price.

“All three of our products made from pure black sesame are organic products that are beneficial to consumers. I process products of good quality, ensuring food safety regulations to be accepted by the market.

Binh Nguyen Cooperative's wish is to open up the market. We have decided to triple the scale of production and processing of black sesame products," said Ms. Vi.

Our observations at Tam Ky market show that essential household goods, seafood, fruits, and beauty products are sluggish and have few buyers.

Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Nga - Head of Tam Ky Market Management Board said that the amount of goods sold at the market is currently only 50 - 60% of the same period last year. The reason is that trade at the market has decreased sharply compared to e-commerce with home delivery. On the other hand, the economy is still difficult, consumers are tightening their spending.

“To increase sales at the market, we encourage small traders to build consumer civilization, sales culture, and create intimacy and closeness with buyers.

Thanks to propaganda, up to now most of the goods ensure food safety regulations, gradually trace their origin, and ensure quality. Goods are also sold at affordable prices. Retailers also apply many promotional programs to stimulate shopping power" - Ms. Nga said.

Strengthen market control

Stimulating domestic consumption is not only a solution to help businesses and small traders in the province stand firm in the face of difficulties, but also helps increase the value of "made in Quang Nam" products, OCOP goods, and rural industrial products in the province.

This is also a way to create a competitive advantage for Vietnamese goods compared to imported quality goods sold at low prices, especially in the context of increasingly deep integration.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the assistance from the functional sector is to simplify and reduce administrative procedures so that production and business enterprises and retail chains can trade more conveniently.

Quang Nam needs to soon establish and closely link the system of wholesale markets to ensure that manufactured goods are traded more openly and transparently in the market, especially in terms of tracing the origin of goods, ensuring quality and safety.

To promote domestic trade, a solution that the authorities focus on implementing is to control and improve the market and protect consumer rights.

Mr. Luong Viet Tinh - Director of the Quang Nam Market Management Department said that in the province, there are very few cases of unreasonably high prices in the retail market because the market management teams in districts, towns and cities have promptly corrected them. Quang Nam currently has a reasonable retail price level, which will stimulate domestic consumption.

“The market management sector continues to control and combat smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, tax evasion, illegal business, and taking advantage of speculation and hoarding to increase prices for illegal profits. We urge retailers and businesses to be honest and responsible when applying promotions, meeting the needs and serving the consumption of the people well,” said Mr. Tinh.

According to the functional sector, in addition to the support of state agencies, businesses and small traders selling directly and selling via e-commerce all need to build product brands, goods, retail brands, create trust for consumers, especially linking, cooperating, connecting trade, and better meeting supply and demand of goods.
