Quang Hai practices with the Vietnam national team before the engagement day

Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai had a training session with the Vietnam national team before taking leave to hold an engagement ceremony with Chu Thanh Huyen.

On December 31, the Vietnamese team gathered in Hanoi to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup campaign. In the morning, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai joined the team and immediately started training with his teammates.

The player from Dong Anh (Hanoi) appeared very excited during this training session. Before joining the Vietnam national team, he scored 3 goals for the Hanoi Police Club in the 2023-24 V-League.

Especially tomorrow (January 1), Quang Hai and Chu Thanh Huyen will hold their engagement ceremony. Player number 19 asked coach Philippe Troussier for a day off to take care of personal matters and was approved.

Coach Troussier asked his players to return to the team the next day to continue training in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.

Responding to Dan Tri when asked about the good news of his upcoming marriage, Quang Hai said that this is the right time for him to turn a new page in his life, as well as have new sources of motivation.

"After spending a lot of time together and getting to know each other, I felt like I could take another step forward with that person," said the striker born in 1997.

Before Quang Hai, some players also started training with U23 Vietnam since December 28. Currently, the team list has 35 players.

Coach Philippe Troussier has just added Bui Tien Dung and Ho Tan Tai to the roster. The French strategist's decision was made in the context of the Vietnamese team being hit by a storm of injuries.

Before that, Thanh Chung and Van Toan had to say goodbye to the team, forcing coach Troussier to summon Pham Van Luan from Hanoi Police.

Before this morning's training session, rookie Hai Long shared: "It's been a long time since I've been able to wear the red flag with yellow star again. I feel very honored and proud, so I will try my best to show my ability to catch the attention of the team's coaching staff.

The coaching staff encouraged me and the players to try our best. The opportunity is shared with all the players. Everyone is trying and performing well."

If nothing changes, coach Philippe Troussier will also select some excellent players from the Vietnam U23 team (who have been practicing since December 28) to increase the number of Vietnamese players to about 40.

With this experienced force, the Vietnamese team will ensure the division of forces for internal competition and create competitiveness before narrowing the list down to 30 players for the training trip in Qatar from January 5.

As planned, before the opening match against Japan at the 2023 Asian Cup, Quang Hai and his teammates will have a friendly match as a "rehearsal" with the Kyrgyzstan team on January 9.
