The oldest soldier serving in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in Hai Duong province today is monk Thich Dam Thao (born in 1917), from Thien Trang village, Thanh Xuan commune (Thanh Ha), abbot of Xuan Ang pagoda. Monk Thich Dam Thao is currently in poor health and bedridden. When participating in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, he was a nurse with the rank of private.
In Thanh Ha district, there are still 47 wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and soldiers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign residing locally.
Hai Duong city has the largest number of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and soldiers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in Hai Duong province, currently living in the area (65 people), followed by Kim Thanh (61 people), Kinh Mon town (53 people), Gia Loc (51 people). Ninh Giang and Tu Ky districts each have 26 people left. Binh Giang district only has 17 people left, the least in the province...
Of the 471 wounded, sick soldiers, and soldiers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, 49 were wounded, sick soldiers, and had lost 70% or less of their health; 94 were determined by localities to be in good health, while the rest were weak.
