Within the framework of the 2024 World Print Summit organized by the World Print Forum-World Association of Newspapers (WAN-IFRA) on October 8 and 9 at the Niederösterreich Palace in Vienna (Austria), the Dien Bien Phu Campaign Panorama supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper was honored by the 2024 Sustainable Print Journalism Innovation and Development Award in the category "Best Product for Young Readers".
According to Mr. Ingi Olafsson, Director of the World Print Forum, the Organizing Committee assessed the supplement of Nhan Dan Newspaper commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory as a typical print newspaper product in the new era, from the excellent printing quality to the content that is easily accessible to the public in both Vietnamese and English, along with the large size that really impresses at first sight.
Mr. Ingi Olafsson added that the supplement commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory effectively applies technological advances by using QR codes so that readers and the younger generation can conveniently use their own smart mobile products to find information in the most intuitive way through augmented reality (AR) technology experiences.
The Dien Bien Phu Campaign Panorama Supplement is not simply a journalistic product, but has become a source of research materials that any reader can access, bringing the younger generation closer to traditional history.
“Nhan Dan Newspaper is doing its job well, especially in educating the younger generations about the history of the nation. This is commendable, because Nhan Dan Newspaper has attracted young readers to be more interested in printed newspaper products. This is also really important for the printed newspaper industry,” the Director of the World Printed Newspaper Forum affirmed.
Representative of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Ingi Olafsson affirmed that young people are increasingly demanding in reading and selecting press information. Therefore, printed newspapers need to further improve the quality of content as well as form, to continue to maintain the vitality of printed newspaper products in the new technology era.
In the digital age, technology has become a driving force to promote the development of many other fields. Automation and improvement of production equipment in all stages of publishing contribute to promoting the newspaper industry. Printers and publishers are trying to find new solutions to improve the efficiency and sustainability of press products, including focusing on environmental factors.
The World Print Summit 2024 attracted the participation of many printers and publishers around the world. Within the framework of the conference, many discussion sessions and meetings between printers, publishers and partners took place.
On May 7, 2024, Nhan Dan Newspaper published a supplement called Panorama of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. This publication created a fever among young people. In just 15 days, Nhan Dan Newspaper published 400,000 copies. However, young readers continued to search for the supplement in both digital and physical space. This is an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of Vietnamese print journalism.
