On the morning of December 26, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a Military-Political Conference for the entire army to evaluate the results of leadership and direction in implementing military and defense tasks in 2024 and deploy military and defense tasks in 2025.

Speaking at the conference, President Luong Cuong said that in 2024, in the country's overall achievements, the Army will make very important contributions, successfully fulfilling its functions and tasks as a combat army, a working army and a production labor army.

The army always upholds its revolutionary nature, an army of the people, by the people and for the people, taking the lead, not afraid of sacrifices and hardships, and excellently completing combat missions in peacetime. The entire army always thoroughly understands and grasps its missions, heightens vigilance, and is highly combat ready.

The work of building a politically strong Army, building a clean and strong Army Party organization, and maintaining and strengthening the Party's absolute and direct leadership in all aspects over the Army continues to be given special attention.

International integration and defense diplomacy continue to be carried out actively, proactively, flexibly, substantially and effectively; they are bright spots in the pillars of Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy.

However, the President also mentioned a number of limitations and shortcomings, and requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to lead, direct and have effective solutions to immediately overcome the limitations and shortcomings pointed out.

The President requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to thoroughly grasp their tasks and perform well their strategic advisory functions to the Party and State on military and national defense issues; to be proactive and sensitive, to improve research and forecasting capacity, to have flexible and effective response strategies to situations, to avoid being passive and surprised, and to maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national construction and development.

The President requested the entire army to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the policy of all-people national defense, people's war, and protect the Fatherland in the new situation, relying on the people, "the people are the root".

The Army needs to coordinate in implementing solutions to build and consolidate the all-people national defense, the "people's heart position", and firmly defend military regions and defense areas at all levels. At the same time, well implement the policy of combining national defense with economy, economy with national defense; research and adjust strategic arrangements in accordance with the adjustment of the Army's organization in the new situation.

The President emphasized the need to focus on improving the overall quality and combat strength of the Army; strictly maintain combat readiness, firmly protect the airspace, sea, border, inland and cyberspace. At the same time, coordinate with forces to maintain security and order nationwide; perform well the task of civil defense, proactively and effectively respond to non-traditional security challenges.

Relevant parties actively research and develop military art and combat to effectively respond to high-tech warfare; innovate and improve the quality of training, education, and exercises to meet new combat conditions.

On the occasion of preparing to welcome the New Year 2025, the President wished all officers and soldiers of the army and militia and self-defense forces nationwide good health and happiness; continued solidarity and unity, efforts to overcome difficulties, overcome all challenges, and gain many victories.

President Luong Cuong noted the need to actively and proactively implement international integration and defense diplomacy in a synchronous, comprehensive and effective manner, ensuring the highest national interests according to the motto "more friends, fewer enemies", "remaining constant, responding to all changes"; and improving the effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation.
