Riding an old bicycle to Dong Cam restaurant, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Oanh (71 years old, living in Thanh Khe district) emotionally said: "I'm old, I don't make money so I often eat here. The rice is 2,000 VND but it's very delicious, the dishes are constantly changed so we don't get bored. The dedication of the uncles and aunts gives us more motivation to live, to be optimistic and love life more."
Coming to Dong Cam restaurant, besides old people like Mrs. Oanh, there are also laborers, lottery ticket sellers, motorbike taxi drivers...
Mrs. Ha Thi Xuan (53 years old, from Quang Nam) is often sick but still goes around the streets every day with a stack of lottery tickets to make a living.
Since learning about Dong Cam restaurant through a colleague, Ms. Xuan often comes here to eat to save money and have a little extra to pay for medicine.
"Very touching. The meal was full of strangers but warm like a family" - Ms. Xuan confided.

For nearly 2 years, Dong Cam restaurant has been open to welcome and share with those in need. On average, the restaurant sells about 150 meals a day for 2,000 VND, but the meals are complete with 3-4 dishes of vegetables, meat, fish and the menu is changed regularly.
Everyone who comes to eat is always served enthusiastically.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - head of the Dong Cam Volunteer Club shared about the idea of opening a 2,000 VND rice shop: "The club was established and has been doing charity work for 9 years.
With the desire to have a fixed restaurant to serve patients and lottery ticket sellers, motorbike taxi drivers, grab drivers... to have delicious, nutritious meals"
The 2,000 VND charge is so that people do not feel indebted or embarrassed when coming to eat, and the people in charge of the restaurant are also responsible for serving customers enthusiastically, making them feel happy and comfortable.
To get cheap meals, members of the Dong Cam Club "contributed their efforts and money" along with the cooperation of philanthropists.
"For us, bringing delicious, nutritious meals to the disadvantaged is a joy and happiness" - Ms. Hoa shared.
