Recently, the People's Committee of Ba Dinh district decided to approve the project of upgrading technical infrastructure and urban beautification to implement the project of organizing a business and service area - walking street in the area of Ngoc Khanh lake and surrounding areas on Pham Huy Thong street, Ngoc Khanh ward.
The total investment value of the project is nearly 30 billion VND from the district budget. The project's goal is to contribute to enhancing the capacity of rainwater drainage, ensuring urban aesthetics and contributing to the synchronous completion of technical infrastructure.
At the same time, the district creates more streets with other services to serve the people, promote and facilitate the development of regional businesses, create civilized landscapes and entertainment spaces, and improve the quality of life.
To complete the technical renovation, the district will pave the sidewalks with natural stone to facilitate business services, walking, and entertainment; plant additional trees to ensure a density of 5m/tree, tie tree pots with natural stone, build outdoor plastic or natural stone seats, add green belts, decorative architectural objects; install urban equipment such as seats, trash cans, public toilets; install street lighting; and pedestrian street welcome gates.
Notably, with the desire to preserve the historical value of the old land, the renovation and embellishment of infrastructure and urban architecture of Ba Dinh district has paid attention to details reminiscent of Giang Vo Duong.
Giang Vo Duong is an area for practicing martial arts, teaching military tactics, and performing high-level military exercises of feudal dynasties in the ancient Thang Long citadel. The relics of Giang Vo Duong in the Later Le Dynasty are located in the areas of Giang Vo, Kim Ma, and Ngoc Khanh wards in today's Ba Dinh district.
It is expected that the infrastructure renovation and urban beautification project in the Ngoc Khanh lake area will begin construction on July 15, 2024.
When in operation, the Ngoc Khanh Lake walking street will have 118 new business establishments, including: open sidewalk businesses, sightseeing spots with mobile stalls arranged on the street, and establishments expanding business activities; thereby creating more jobs for many people.
Previously, at the end of 2022, Ba Dinh district put into operation a culinary street combined with Ngoc Island - Ngu Xa walking street on weekends. Ngoc Khanh walking street will be the 7th walking street in Hanoi.
