Huong Hoa is a mountainous district with more than 50% of the population being ethnic minorities, of which the Pa Ko ethnic group accounts for 4.97% of the district's population, mainly concentrated in Lia commune and scattered in communes and towns in the district.
The Pa Ko people have long been attached to the mountains and forests here. Their lifestyle and living environment have gradually formed very unique cultural features, closely associated with the people from generation to generation. Through the long history with many ups and downs, the Pa Ko people on the majestic Truong Son mountain range have always known how to preserve the cultural identity of their people.
The Pa Ko festival is considered the most colorful picture, converging many typical cultural features such as traditional cuisine, traditional costumes, traditional musical instruments and folk songs, and traditional worshiping of gods. One of the most typical festivals of the Pa Ko is the “New Rice Celebration” festival, in the Pa Ko language is “A Da festival”.
This traditional festival is held at the end of the year when the crops have been harvested. This custom has been passed down through many generations and still retains the traditional identity of the festival. In the spiritual life of the Pa Ko people, the "Celebrating the New Rice" worship ceremony is indispensable. This is a ceremony that, according to the Pa Ko people, will bring them a prosperous and happy life.
The festival is an occasion for people to report to the gods, grandparents and ancestors that the harvest has been completed, and to thank heaven and earth for blessing the village and family with a year of favorable weather and wind, bringing a bountiful harvest and prosperity to the village. This is also an occasion to connect feelings within families, clans and communities.

The A Da Festival - "Celebrating the new rice" of the Pa Ko people in Huong Hoa district in 2023 was elaborately restored with full traditional rituals and offerings. Along with that were animated scenes illustrating each part of the ceremony with performances by 50 artisans of Lia commune.
The festival is vividly and uniquely recreated on the background of gong music, panpipes, zithers, and folk songs of Ta ai and Oat xa not - which are precious, unique, and distinctive cultural heritages of the Pa Ko people - in the hope of a peaceful and prosperous life.
In every Pa Ko community, wherever they are, they hold the "New Rice Celebration" ceremony, because for them, this ceremony is their spiritual life as well as a unique traditional cultural feature that has been preserved and passed down through many generations to this day.
