On the afternoon of November 30, Comrade Nguyen Van Thi, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the delegation of the US Embassy in Vietnam, led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Vietnam Marc Knapper. Also attending the reception were representatives of provincial departments, branches and Hong Duc University.

Welcoming the delegation, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi happily welcomed US Ambassador Marc Knapper and his colleagues to visit, work and attend the Congress of the Vietnam-US Friendship Association of Thanh Hoa province; at the same time, he expressed his belief that this visit will bring many good results, promoting the relationship between Thanh Hoa province and the Embassy and US organizations, corporations and enterprises to develop more deeply and sustainably; contributing to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States.
He gave an overview of the socio-economic, cultural and educational development situation in the province; especially the favorable conditions for international trade, Nghi Son Economic Zone, Nghi Son deep-water port, quality of human resources as well as the orientations and strategies for socio-economic development of the province.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi sincerely thanked the cooperation and attention of the US Embassy in Vietnam in recent times, which has initially brought results to the socio-economic development of the province, especially the projects funded by the US Government for Thanh Hoa province in the field of education. Thanh Hoa province also has businesses successfully exporting goods to the US market. In 2024, Thanh Hoa province's export turnover to the US market is estimated to reach 745 million USD, with the main export items being computers, electronic equipment, machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts.
Emphasizing the direction of becoming a new growth pole in the North of the country and a model province, he shared: Thanh Hoa province is focusing on attracting investment in the fields of processing and manufacturing industry; high-tech agriculture, healthcare, and education. The locality is also actively training human resources, implementing land accumulation mechanisms to develop large-scale goods; therefore, the province hopes that the ambassador will connect investors in the United States to continue researching and learning about these fields, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, electronics, information technology, communications, and investment in industrial park infrastructure. At the same time, introduce and connect Thanh Hoa province's products to continue exporting to the United States; promote the potential, advantages, and beauty of Thanh tourism to stimulate tourism, pay attention to training support programs, and improve English proficiency in universities and high schools in the province.
He also suggested that the Ambassador pay attention to and support Thanh Hoa province to benefit from ODA projects in the infrastructure sector; implement non-governmental funded projects in the fields of health, education, and clean water in disadvantaged areas such as mountainous and coastal areas. Thanh Hoa province pledged to direct relevant agencies to coordinate in implementing effective projects, and promote capital resources when investing in and benefiting from projects.
Thanking Thanh Hoa province for the welcome, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper expressed his special respect for Thanh Hoa province; at the same time, he expressed his impression of the historical and cultural traditions of Thanh Hoa land and the good qualities of Thanh Hoa people and congratulated the achievements and strong development of the province in recent times.

The Ambassador emphasized that education is one of the areas that the United States is very interested in Vietnam in particular and Thanh Hoa in general. In Thanh Hoa, US agencies have also implemented projects with Hong Duc University. Since 2010, Hong Duc University has implemented many cooperation programs with the US Embassy in Hanoi on receiving English experts, English teaching assistants, organizing English clubs and improving English proficiency for staff and lecturers throughout the school.
The Ambassador added that in addition to the conditions of transport infrastructure, when studying investment in high-tech and semiconductor technology projects, US investors often pay attention to the ecosystem including: renewable energy, high-quality human resources, access to clean water, and technology standards on information infrastructure to ensure safety and security. With the sharing of the leaders of Thanh Hoa province, the Ambassador realized that Thanh Hoa is a suitable location and a promising destination for investors from the United States.
Currently, many US schools are also very interested and wish to implement cooperation programs with Vietnam. US tourists are also very interested in eco-tourism, experiential tourism associated with learning about the indigenous culture of the localities. Ambassador Ngai affirmed that the US Embassy in Vietnam will continue to support Thanh Hoa province in connecting organizations, businesses, and investors; so that the two sides can understand each other better. From there, there will be more extensive and effective cooperation programs and plans in all areas of economic development, culture, education and humanitarian activities; contributing to strengthening and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States.
