Documentary Vietnam Concert Film: We are Vietnamese belong to Hoang Thuy Linh released on March 14, earning more than 200 million VND after nearly 6 days in theaters. Over the past three weekends, the film earned about 140 million VND with a small number of screenings.
Amid gloomy box office revenue, Hoang Thuy Linh said the film will leave theaters in the next few days. "Only a few more days, We are Vietnamese will leave the theaters so Linh and her teammates can give the film new tasks... Linh will also bring the film to universities as well as middle and high schools so everyone can enjoy it," Hoang Thuy Linh shared.
The singer affirmed that the film has never been pressured by revenue. She admitted that this genre is selective of viewers, making it difficult to attract audiences to the theater. Hoang Thuy Linh hopes that when watching the film, audiences can find a little inspiration to overcome difficulties in life.
Initially, Hoang Thuy Linh only intended to show the film in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with limited screenings. Later, the film increased the screenings and expanded to Da Nang, Can Tho and Hai Phong.
Hoang Thuy Linh and her crew spent 2 years to complete the work. The film is about 90 minutes long, recording the process of making her first music night after more than 10 years of working in the arts.
Each performance is associated with a separate story of Hoang Thuy Linh. Although the film was invested in visuals, it was criticized for its weak content. Audiences also expected Hoang Thuy Linh to sing live in the film instead of edited and polished audio versions.
