Attending the opening ceremony of the Festival were Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; and comrades of the Party Central Committee: Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Prime Minister; Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Do Tien Sy, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam; Le Ngoc Quang, General Director of Vietnam Television; Do Trong Hung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Hoa province; Comrade Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; and representatives of leaders of relevant ministries, departments and branches.
Held every two years, the National Radio Festival is a professional activity of the Vietnamese radio industry to discover and honor outstanding authors and works of radio journalists nationwide. This is also an opportunity for journalists, editors, and reporters to exchange, learn, improve their skills, and contribute to improving the quality of radio programs.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 16th National Radio Festival, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department affirmed: After nearly 80 years of construction, development and growth, the Voice of Vietnam in particular and the radio industry in general have made many great contributions. With the strong development of communication technology, the expansion of media space, the increase of new types of journalism and media; with a stream of information that is highly topical, timely, accurate, rich in knowledge, culture, imbued with the breath of life; with rich, diverse, creative programs; with wide coverage, easy to access..., the radio industry is increasingly affirming its position and role as a sharp ideological weapon, a key information channel, a pioneer, leading and orienting public opinion; a reliable forum for people to participate in monitoring, criticizing and managing society; is a bridge between the Party, the State and the people, contributing to creating social consensus and strengthening people's trust in the Party and the State.
To promote achievements and results, overcome shortcomings and limitations, take advantage of opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, further enhance the role and position of the radio industry in the new period, and meet the requirements and demands of reality, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that radio workers should pay attention to implementing five key contents:
Firstly, it is necessary to regularly grasp and thoroughly grasp the Party and State's guidelines, policies and guidelines; grasp the viewpoints and goals of building a professional, humane and modern revolutionary press; properly implement the principles and goals; strive to build a cultural press agency and a culture of journalists.
Second, the broadcasting industry needs to be more proactive, timely, and creative in information and propaganda work; to attach importance to and closely follow the vivid realities of social life and the cause of innovation; to be ready to commit, take the lead, and learn about the country's big, new, and difficult issues...
Third, the broadcasting system from the central to grassroots levels needs to promote its proactive role in orienting and leading information, contributing to creating unity of thought, will and action, and social consensus to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; continue to effectively promote the role of social supervision and criticism, focusing on participating in building and developing Vietnamese culture and people in the new period, to create soft power and endogenous power to develop the country...
Fourth, it is necessary to focus on building a team of reporters with strong political will, professional expertise, and clear professional ethics.
Fifth, research and implement extensively and effectively the digital transformation strategy in the broadcasting sector, as determined by the spirit of the theme of this year's Radio Festival: "Vietnam Radio - Diversity in Digital Transformation".
“Broadcasting in the digital age is not only about changing transmission infrastructure or broadcasting platforms, but also about changing mindsets, ways of thinking, and ways of working. We need to consider this as a top priority task, a breakthrough for sustainable development,” emphasized the Head of the Central Propaganda Department.
In his response, Comrade Do Tien Sy, Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, affirmed: The Voice of Vietnam and the Vietnamese radio industry will seriously absorb, thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the instructions of Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, in order to promote tradition, build the Vietnamese radio industry to become increasingly strong, worthy of the expectations of the Party, the State, and the trust of all classes of people.
The 16th National Radio Festival in 2024 took place from July 9 to 13. The festival attracted the participation of 81 units (including 63 provincial and municipal Radio and Television Stations, units of the Voice of Vietnam, the People's Army Radio and Television Center, the People's Public Security Communications Department) with 380 works in 6 genres: reportage, thematic programs, interviews, ethnic language radio programs, radio stories, live radio programs; and 5 award categories: digital platform application, podcast, excellent staging technique, golden voice, excellent host. After the Preliminary Round, the Jury selected 228 works for the Final Round.
In addition to reports recording the preparation for the Festival, clarifying the pressures from information competition in the digital media environment, evaluating the quality of works participating in the Festival, etc., the Opening Ceremony also brought elaborately staged art performances, with songs such as: Song of the Country, Returning to Thanh Xua, Day of Sound Festival, Pride of Vietnamese Voice, etc.
Within the framework of the Festival, there are also exciting professional, cultural and sports activities, creating a forum for Vietnamese radio workers to exchange, meet and share experiences, including: International Workshop "Digital Transformation of Radio: International and Vietnamese Practices", Program "9th National Exchange of Cheo Art Lovers in 2024" and "For Healthy Waves" Run.
The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 16th National Radio Festival will be held at 8:00 p.m. on July 13 at Lam Son Theater, Thanh Hoa province.
