According to comrade Le Hoai Trung, the visit was made after the Party Central Committee elected comrade To Lam as General Secretary and the Party and State of Vietnam completed a number of high-ranking leadership positions. The visit was also made in the context that the two Parties and two countries are actively implementing the resolutions set forth by each Party Congress, while at the same time preparing well for congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
Comrade Le Hoai Trung emphasized that this affirms the special importance that the two Parties and two countries attach to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Reviewing the achievements in Vietnam-Laos relations in recent times, comrade Le Hoai Trung stated that political trust and mutual understanding between the two countries have been enhanced through visits and exchanges of high-level delegations in many flexible forms, as well as through discussions on strategic issues. Political relations play a core role, guiding the overall relationship between the two countries.
According to comrade Le Hoai Trung, defense-security cooperation is considered an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries, continuing to be promoted and implemented effectively. Economic cooperation has also achieved positive results. Cooperation in the fields of science and technology, education and culture has all developed.
The two countries also cooperate increasingly closely at multilateral forums and organizations. Vietnam supports and closely coordinates to help Laos successfully assume the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024.
During the State visit to Vietnam by Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife, the leaders of the two sides will inform each other about the situation of each party and each country; discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern, especially in the context of many complex and unpredictable developments. The two sides will also review the results of cooperation achieved and propose major directions for cooperation in the coming time.
According to comrade Le Hoai Trung, within the framework of the visit, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party will hold a High-level Meeting. These are all particularly important foreign affairs activities, contributing to enhancing understanding and political trust between the two parties and countries, and consolidating the relationship between the two General Secretaries, Presidents and senior leaders of the two sides.
The Head of the Central External Relations Commission added that Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith is expected to hold talks and meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders during the visit. The Lao General Secretary and President will meet with former volunteer soldiers, Vietnamese experts in Laos, and the young generation of Vietnam and Lao students studying in Vietnam; and visit and work in a number of localities in Vietnam.
Comrade Le Hoai Trung expressed his belief that the visit will contribute to further strengthening political trust between the two countries and providing directions and measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in many fields.
With the determination of the two Parties and two countries, the achievements that have been made, as well as the cooperation directions in the coming time, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos will continue to achieve important results, meeting the interests of the people of each country, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
