On February 1, the Engineering Department (Nghe An Province Military Command) said that this unit had just coordinated with local authorities in Ky Son district to successfully detonate a 350kg bomb with an intact detonator in Nam Can commune (Ky Son district, Nghe An province).

Previously, on January 29, Mr. Nhang Van Son (residing in Pa Ca village, Nam Can commune) was digging the foundation for a house when he discovered a bomb underground. Mr. Son immediately reported the incident to the Nam Can Commune Military Command and the Ky Son District Military Command for assistance in handling the matter.
Upon receiving the news, the authorities of Nam Can commune, Ky Son district were present at the scene to block off the area where the bomb was located and set up 24/7 security to prevent people and vehicles from approaching.

Approaching the scene, the authorities determined that the object was a bomb left over from the war. This was an M117 bomb, 40cm in diameter, 126cm long, weighing about 350kg with the detonator intact.

The Engineering Department, Nghe An Province Military Command then neutralized the bomb's fuse and moved to the Truong Son hill area (Nam Can commune) to safely destroy it.
