The Jalisco prosecutor's office said the bodies were found in the city of Zapopan and are awaiting forensic tests to determine their official identities.

"According to preliminary information, the bodies discovered... in Zapopan match the physical characteristics of several young people who have recently disappeared," the statement said.
Authorities discovered the bags in a ravine on the outskirts of Jalisco, Guadalajara, earlier this week while searching for seven employees of a scam call ring who were reported missing.
On Tuesday, Mexico's Security Minister Rosa Icela Rodriguez told reporters that initial investigations showed the employees belonged to a center "dedicated to carrying out some real estate fraud and extortion by telephone."
Authorities are working to determine how many bodies were inside the 45 bags and how they were killed. Local media reported that the bodies included both men and women.
Prosecutors added that the difficult terrain and lack of sunlight had complicated the investigation. According to government data, more than 100,000 people are currently missing in Mexico, where organized crime has ravaged large parts of the country.
Jalisco is known as a hotbed of gangs, including the Jalisco New Generation and Nueva Plaza gangs.
