Launching the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2023

On November 17, the Provincial People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality (GBE) and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Ninh Thuan Province in 2023 with the theme: "Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to implement GBE and eliminate gender-based violence".

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, branches, unions and over 250 union members, youth, civil servants, public employees and workers of agencies and units in the province.

After more than 12 years of implementing the National Action Strategy on Gender Equality, the role and status of women and men in the province have been significantly improved. The whole province has 50/92 state management agencies and local authorities at all levels with key female leaders, reaching 54.38%. Currently, the number of employed workers in the whole province is over 18,000 people; of which over 53% are female workers in all economic sectors. The rate of trained female workers is over 51% of the total number of trained workers. Health care for women and children has also achieved many remarkable results. Besides the achieved results, gender equality work in general and women's work in particular still has many shortcomings. The rate of female cadres participating in management and leadership at all levels is still low, not commensurate with the strength and contributions of women. The lives of a segment of women and children are still difficult, especially women from ethnic minorities, rural areas, and remote areas. Violence against women and children still exists...

Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives with outstanding achievements.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Gender equality not only brings benefits to women but also has positive impacts on the progress and development of the whole society. He called on sectors, levels, social organizations and communities to respond to the Action Month with practical and effective actions so that the message "Ensuring social security, increasing power and creating opportunities for women and girls to implement gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence" is spread and becomes a reality in every individual, every family and community. Encourage and call on everyone to speak up and act together to eliminate gender inequality and end violence against women and girls; promote the implementation of laws, policies, and social mobilization on gender equality and prevention and control of gender-based violence.
