Following the success of the "National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas of Vietnam" held for the first time in 2023, the 2nd National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas of Vietnam in 2024 was held right after the Politburo issued Resolution No. 46-NQ/TW on innovation and improving the quality of activities of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period with many requirements of innovation in propaganda, mobilization, gathering of cadres, farmer members and the success of the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (term 2023-2028).
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Bui Thi Thom, Vice President of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, said that organizing the 2nd National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas in 2024 is an innovation in the current task of information and communication on agriculture, farmers and rural areas as stated in Resolution 46-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Ms. Bui Thi Thom suggested that the Organizing Committee should innovate, be creative, and be flexible in content and form to encourage authors and press agencies to have high-quality works to participate in the award. The award must truly be a forum and playground for professional and non-professional writers, including journalists, experts, and readers, to express and comprehensively reflect on current issues of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Vietnam.
At the same time, it is necessary to encourage authors to submit entries that are related to the Party and State's policies and priorities in agriculture, farmers and rural areas today. These include topics such as green agricultural production transformation, circular economy, the project to develop 1 million hectares of high-quality rice, and emission reduction; associated with the movements of the Vietnam Farmers' Association on emulation in good production and business; on developing collective economy in agriculture; on encouraging the establishment of farmer clubs, branches, and professional associations...
According to journalist Nguyen Van Hoai, Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award, said: “This year's press award is organized on a large scale with strict rules to encourage professional and non-professional authors to submit entries to Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper and all works and types of press from press agencies nationwide. We hope to receive enthusiastic participation and response from authors and press agencies in submitting articles and works to the award.”

According to the Organizing Committee, this award aims to create a spread, encourage cadres and farmer members nationwide to compete and work in production to successfully implement the policies and resolutions of the Party and State, promote the role of farmers in developing ecological agriculture, circular economy, forming multi-value chains... At the same time, promptly discover, encourage, and motivate typical farmers and enterprises in the production and business of agriculture, forestry and fishery.
The new point of this year's press award is that in addition to the categories of print and electronic newspapers, the Organizing Committee has decided to expand the radio and television categories. Accordingly, the Organizing Committee will receive entries through two channels: Using articles published in Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet electronic newspaper (sent by authors) and receiving all entries from press agencies nationwide. The valid submission period for all entries is calculated from December 10, 2023 (the date of the Organizing Committee's announcement) and the closing date for submission is November 15, 2024.
Regarding the award structure, it is divided into two categories: Category for print and electronic newspapers and category for radio and television. Each category includes 1 A prize, 2 B prizes, 3 C prizes, 5 consolation prizes and 20 general thematic prizes for all categories with a total of 42 awards.
Also within the framework of the Launching Ceremony of the 2nd National Press Award for Writing about Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam - 2024, Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic also launched the 3rd "Memories of Hanoi" writing contest - 2024.
The contest is organized by Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications. The time for receiving entries is from July 10, 2024 and the end of receiving entries is September 30, 2024.
