The second Hanoi Memories writing contest was launched by Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper (NTNN Newspaper/Dan Viet) from April 26, 2023 to contribute to spreading love, emotions, memories, and reminiscences about the Capital of those who have been, are, and will be attached to the "heart of the whole country".

During the 4 months of organization, up to September 25, the Secretariat of the 2nd Hanoi Memories Writing Contest has received more than 1,000 articles from readers, with hundreds of quality works published in the Hanoi Today section of Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper.

Of these, female authors account for 60% of the total number of authors submitting entries. The oldest author is Associate Professor Dr. Ha Dinh Duc, 83 years old, formerly a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Biology - University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The youngest author is Thieu Nguyen Vi Da, a 6D student at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary School, Phu Xuan Commune, Krong Nang District, Dak Lak Province.

The jury of the contest is composed of prestigious experts, Hanoi scholars, historians, and journalists such as: Poet Tran Dang Khoa - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Writers' Association, Head of the Jury; Journalist Nguyen Van Hoai - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic, Deputy Head of the Jury; Journalist Nguyen Minh Duc - Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, Jury Member, Member; Historian Duong Trung Quoc - Jury Member; Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang - Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists' Association, Jury Member; Ms. Tran Thi Mai Dung - Head of the Press, Publishing and Communication Department (Hanoi Department of Information and Communications), Jury Member; Hanoi writer and researcher Nguyen Ngoc Tien, Jury Member.

The members of the jury all highly appreciated the content of the entries. Writer and researcher from Hanoi Nguyen Ngoc Tien, a member of the jury of the 2nd Hanoi Memories Contest, shared that the entries in the contest brought him many emotions.

The work "A Time Not to Forget", a professor raising pigs on the 4th floor of a residential area by Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh (Nam Dinh) won First Prize.

Each article bears the personal mark of the author. They are people who were born and raised, who have spent their whole lives in the Capital, who have lived and worked for a short time or just passed by for a moment.

After more than a week of serious, responsible and objective work, the Jury of the Hanoi Memories Writing Contest has scored and selected 11 quality works to award prizes.

The two works that won the Second Prize include: The work Celebrating nearly 30 years of attachment to the turtle of Hoan Kiem Lake by Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Dinh Duc (Hanoi) and Phieu be ngon - a time and forever by author Le Hong Quang (Hanoi). Mr. Nguyen Hong Son (Head of the Central Propaganda Department, right photo) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong (Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, left) presented the awards to the authors.

The two works that won the Second Prize include: The work Celebrating nearly 30 years of attachment to the turtle of Hoan Kiem Lake by Associate Professor Ha Dinh Duc (Hanoi) and Phieu be ngon - a time and forever by author Le Hong Quang (Hanoi).

The three works that won Third Prize include: A debt of gratitude to the landlady on De La Thanh Street by author Vu Van Tang (Ba Ria Vung Tau); An emotional meeting between an American veteran and the owner of a coffee shop in Bat Trang by author Nguyen Thi Thu (Ha Tinh); The sacredness of the flag raising and lowering ceremony by author Ngo Duc Quang (Quang Ngai).

The three works that won Third Prize include: A debt of gratitude to the landlady on De La Thanh Street by Vu Van Tang (Ba Ria Vung Tau); A touching meeting between an American veteran and the owner of a coffee shop in Bat Trang by Nguyen Thi Thu (Ha Tinh); The sacredness of the flag raising and lowering ceremony by Ngo Duc Quang (Quang Ngai). The two authors who live far away asked relatives to come and receive the certificates.

The five works that won the Encouragement Prize include: A suburb of the capital then and now by author Nguyen Van At (Hanoi); Living in a "military street" by author Lu Thi Mai (Hanoi); A blackboard filled with emotions in a collective housing area by author Huynh Thi Anh Tuyet (Ho Chi Minh City); Traffic in the capital in the 90s by author Tran Huu Minh (Ho Chi Minh City); A female student from Nghe An and her heavy memories of the capital by author Le Thi Thuong Huyen (Ha Tinh).
