The project includes Lai Xuan bridge, 840m long, 12m wide, reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete structure with a total investment of 544 billion VND; the project of renovating and expanding the road connecting the two ends of the bridge, more than 14km long, with a cross-section of the roadbed 12m wide, starting point at the intersection with National Highway 10 in Thien Huong commune (Thuy Nguyen city), the end point connecting with Provincial Road 333 in Dong Trieu city with a total investment of 791 billion VND.
By the end of 2024, the 840m, 12m wide main bridge will be basically completed.
According to the project consultant and supervisor, right from the start of construction, the investor and contractors set a goal of shortening the progress, completing and putting it into use by the end of 2024. This is very important in promoting inter-regional and intra-regional economic development, adding a new road corridor connecting Quang Ninh - Hai Phong, gradually completing a synchronous and modern traffic network for the key economic region of the North. However, the main items and the access road on the Quang Ninh side have been completed as planned, but the Hai Phong side still faces difficulties in site clearance, stuck with the petroleum pipeline of the K131 Petroleum Enterprise that has not been relocated.

It is known that Hai Phong City has issued a document directing Thuy Nguyen City to relocate the petroleum pipeline from warehouse K130 to warehouse K131 to serve the site clearance for the project and open Lai Xuan bridge in May 2025, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation on May 13 (1955-2025). However, the plan to relocate the petroleum pipeline needs to ensure the procedures, seek opinions from a number of relevant ministries, branches and the Vietnam National Petroleum Group... so the site clearance work is still being focused on.
To ensure synchronous connection with Lai Xuan Bridge, in July 2024, Quang Ninh decided to invest in renovating TL333 connecting National Highway 18 with Lai Xuan Bridge approach road with a length of 1.4km, width of 12-20m depending on the section, scale of 4 lanes (2 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles) with a system of longitudinal ditches, electric sidewalks for lighting... Up to now, the items of roadbed expansion and longitudinal ditches have been completed. Currently, the investor is directing the construction contractors to focus on and speed up the progress of paving the final layers of asphalt concrete, striving to complete in April 2025 to connect with the Lai Xuan Bridge approach road.
Quang Ninh is striving to complete the renovation of TL333 connecting National Highway 18 with the Lai Xuan bridge approach road in April 2025.
According to the adjusted plan, Lai Xuan Bridge will be completed and opened to traffic on the occasion of the anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation. This will be the 4th road traffic corridor connecting Quang Ninh - Hai Phong after the projects of National Highway 10, Bach Dang Bridge and Ben Rung Bridge, becoming an important driving force to synchronously connect almost all adjacent areas of the two localities, contributing to improving the capacity of traffic services, meeting the transportation needs between industrial parks, industrial clusters and the urban chain under formation; promoting land space, expanding new development space, creating a driving force for symbiotic development in goods trading, in the supply of human resources of the region. In particular, it will contribute significantly to promoting the solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities, gradually perfecting the traffic network of Hai Phong City, Quang Ninh Province and the Northern Key Economic Region.
