Strive to close Lai Xuan bridge in August

The investment project to build Lai Xuan bridge and renovate and expand provincial road 352 will improve traffic service capacity, create an inter-regional traffic connection system, meet the transportation needs between industrial parks, industrial clusters, and people in Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong), Dong Trieu town (Quang Ninh) in particular and the two localities of Hai Phong and Quang Ninh in general.

The above project will gradually complete the transportation network of Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh province and the key economic region of the North. Contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of localities in the project area.

The Lai Xuan Bridge project and the upgrade of Provincial Road 352 started in early 2023. As planned, the Lai Xuan Bridge will be constructed in about 15 months, but due to lack of land, the construction unit has been unable to implement some items, leading to delays.

According to information from the Joint Venture of Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company 75 - Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 18, the contractor will strive to complete the project next August.

Currently, due to lack of construction site, there are only about 40 workers and technical staff participating in the construction of the above project. At peak times, there were about more than 100 workers working at the construction site.

Lai Xuan Bridge across Da Bach River has a length of about 841.1m, the main bridge and approach bridge are 12m wide. The structure is reinforced concrete and permanent prestressed reinforced concrete.

The main bridge consists of 4 balanced cantilever prestressed concrete spans with a diagram of 1 span of 72 m, 2 spans of 120 m and 1 next span of 72 m. The approach bridge consists of 11 girder spans. The highest design load is according to American measurement standards. The navigational dimensions are 70 m wide and 9.5 m high at the highest water level for the branch to Phi Liet River and 50 m wide and 9.5 m high for the branch to Da Vach River.

According to the contractor's feedback, due to lack of land to construct the bridge and the access roads, the contractor had to work at a slow pace while waiting for land.

By July 2024, the site clearance work on the side of Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City will only have the land area recovered from Xuan Nguyen Prison (about 9,800m2) of the site left to construct 3 pillars. The Department of Construction and Barracks Management (Ministry of Public Security) is coordinating with the city to resolve related procedures.

The joint venture of Bridge 75 Construction Joint Stock Company - Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 18 hopes to soon have a site to implement the project items, striving to complete the project on schedule by the end of 2024.

The road section leading from Provincial Road 352 has been handed over, but because some construction sites related to the petroleum pipeline of Petroleum Enterprise K131 under Petroleum Company B12 have not been relocated, they are still not qualified for construction.

Workers of Bridge 75 Construction Joint Stock Company are constructing cantilever beams connecting spans 6 and 7 on the side of Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city.

Currently, contractors have completed 104/130 bored piles, and are working at 11/16 abutment and pier locations, with an estimated completed volume of about 315/518.8 billion VND, reaching about 62% of the contract value.

The balanced cantilever construction technology at spans 8 and 9 in the middle of the river will not affect the traffic of ships on the river.

Workers and engineers are constructing spans 7-8 using balanced cantilever concrete technique.

The precast concrete beams are ready to be assembled, but because there is no construction site yet, they still have to be gathered under the bridge.

Meanwhile, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province (Yen Duc commune) is still involved in 46 households, so there are still problems with land clearance for the construction of 2 bridge piers. Some households are having to investigate the origin of the land, so it is expected that the time for land clearance will be extended.

Because the construction site is located close to a residential area, the construction process has affected the lives of some households, and it has also become difficult for the contractor to work overtime to speed up progress.
