The video and screen sharing feature was first teased in May, when the company announced GPT-4 and discussed how ChatGPt learned to watch the game and explain what was going on. The enhanced voice mode was rolled out to users in September.
Both features are currently available on the iOS and Android mobile apps for ChatGPT Teams, Plus, and Pro users and will roll out to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu subscribers in January.
However, users in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein will not be able to access enhanced voice mode. Users can access the video via new buttons on the enhanced voice mode screen to start the video.
For screen sharing, the three-dot menu allows users to navigate away from the ChatGPT app. They can open apps on their phone and ask ChatGPT questions about what it's seeing.
And recently, in response to Christmas, OpenAI launched a voice-based version of ChatGPT’s Santa simulation. Accordingly, AI will be used to bring North Pole connectivity to mobile devices, desktop applications, and web browsers during the holiday season.
The company has added Santa’s voice and personality as a preset option in ChatGPT’s Advanced voice mode. Users can access Santa by tapping the snowflake icon next to the prompt bar or through voice settings. The feature works on OpenAI’s iOS and Android mobile apps, chatgpt.com, and Windows and macOS apps. The option will be available to users worldwide by early January.
Conversations with Santa will exist as ephemeral conversations and will not be saved to the chat history or impact model memory. OpenAO designed this restriction specifically for the holiday feature.
