US President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Senator Marco Rubio as US Secretary of State, lawmaker Matt Gaetz as Attorney General and Ms. Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence.

"He will be a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never back down from our enemies," Trump said in a statement announcing his nomination of Rubio as US Secretary of State, according to Reuters.
On November 11, the US press announced that Mr. Trump had chosen Mr. Rubio (53 years old) as the US Secretary of State. Afterwards, the news of Mr. Rubio's selection as the US Secretary of State caused criticism from some members of the Republican Party who considered Mr. Rubio's foreign policy views to be too traditional and internationalist.

Mr. Rubio is considered the most hawkish candidate on President-elect Trump's shortlist for the position of US Secretary of State, and for many years, he has advocated a tough foreign policy towards US geopolitical rivals, including China and Iran. Mr. Rubio is considered the most hawkish person on China in the US Senate, according to Reuters.
Also on November 13, Mr. Trump announced that legislator Matt Gaetz was his candidate for US Attorney General.
"There are few issues in America more important than ending the weaponization of our partisan justice system. Matt will end the armed government... and restore the American people's badly broken faith and trust in the Department of Justice," Trump wrote on social media.
Mr. Gaetz, a Florida native and a US congressman since 2017, is one of Mr. Trump’s most controversial nominations as he seeks to fill his cabinet following his victory over Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election. Mr. Trump has called for revenge against political enemies he accuses of using the power of the Justice Department against him in politically motivated prosecutions.
In addition, on November 13, Mr. Trump appointed former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard, who opposed US support for Ukraine and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as the US Director of National Intelligence, according to AFP.
President-elect Trump said Ms Gabbard would "bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our intelligence community".
Ms Gabbard switched allegiance from the Democratic Party to Mr Trump earlier this year, helping him prepare for his debate with Ms Harris, and had expected a reward for standing behind the former president, according to AFP. Ms Gabbard has long held isolationist foreign policy views and embraced a number of conspiracy theories.
