What case was Mr. Liu Binh Nhuong prosecuted in connection with?

Previously, on May 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and prosecute Pham Minh Cuong (residing in Thuy Xuan Commune, Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province) for the crime of Extortion of property under Article 170 of the Penal Code.

According to the investigation agency, when learning that some businesses were licensed by the People's Committee of Thai Binh province to exploit sand at the coastal sand mine in Thuy Truong commune (Thai Thuy district), Cuong "quat" and his accomplices arbitrarily established illegal rights to use tidal flats to use as a "means" to put pressure on businesses, forcing them to reluctantly pay according to the volume of sand exploited or sell a part back to Cuong at a price cheaper than the market price.

With the above tricks, from 2020 to 2022, the total amount of money that Cuong and his accomplices appropriated from businesses amounted to billions of dong.

According to Thai Binh Provincial Police, this is an especially serious case, the defendant has appropriated a large amount of money, causing public outrage, infringing on the legitimate rights and interests of businesses and seriously affecting the investment environment of Thai Binh province.

Thai Binh Provincial Police continue to expand the investigation of the case, especially focusing on clarifying the subjects who assisted and assisted the defendant in committing the crime to thoroughly handle it according to regulations.
