Spreading production and consumption of OCOP products

Implementing the OCOP Program, Hau Giang province always focuses on ensuring product quality associated with advantages in production conditions and local cultural values, thereby building a system of quality products that are favored and highly appreciated by the market and consumers.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Huu - Chief of the Office of New Rural Area Coordination of Hau Giang province, said that up to this point, the whole province has 266 OCOP products recognized as meeting provincial OCOP standards, with 125 registered participants, including: 18 companies, accounting for 14.4%; 36 cooperatives, accounting for 28.8%; 71 establishments and business households, accounting for 65.4%.

OCOP products from Hau Giang such as ginger jam, fish sauce, dried fruit, honey... have been warmly welcomed in many markets. This not only helps increase income for people but also creates many new jobs, contributing to poverty reduction and sustainable development of rural areas.

Of the 266 recognized OCOP products, there are 92 4-star OCOP products, 174 3-star OCOP products, and 11 products registered for the Central 5-star OCOP product contest.

Of the total OCOP products of the province, Phung Hiep district has 42 products, Ky Nhu cooperative has the largest number of OCOP products in the locality, with 11 products using raw materials from snakehead fish; Vi Thanh city has 44 products; Chau Thanh district has 38 products; Chau Thanh A district has 33 products; Vi Thuy district has 28 products; Long My town has 36 products; Long My district has 26 products and Nga Bay city has 19 products.

The OCOP program in Hau Giang has attracted 71 establishments, including 36 cooperatives and 18 participating companies, creating positive signals and becoming a driving force for rural economic development.

Mr. Tran Minh Nim - owner of Huong Tram honey facility, in Hamlet 2, Thuan Hoa Commune, Long My District, said: "Previously, Huong Tram honey products of the Facility were mainly sold to traders, but now they are available everywhere in the Mekong Delta region and big cities, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi... That is thanks to the attention and support from the government, the new rural coordination office has helped small businesses like me have the opportunity to build, develop brands and bring them to big markets like today".

After implementing the OCOP program, many products have become key commodities of Hau Giang province, favored by the market such as: Ky Nhu spiced boneless snakehead fish, Ut Tay Lao Tuu wine, Thuan Phat melon, Vi Thuy clean rice of Tan Long Cooperative...

Hau Giang is an agricultural province, this is a great potential for the district to develop diverse agricultural products and craft villages according to the OCOP Program, thereby bringing high economic value to local people.

Determining that, the Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office has carried out many activities to develop OCOP products, including surveying and evaluating the potential of local products to select products that can be developed into OCOP products, helping to create favorable conditions for product output and increase the value of agricultural products.

Building a brand for OCOP products not only helps to increase the value of the product but also builds trust and confidence of consumers. OCOP products from Hau Giang such as ginger jam, fish sauce, dried fruit, honey... have been warmly welcomed in many markets. This not only helps to increase income for people but also creates many new jobs, contributing to poverty reduction and sustainable development of rural areas.

With the continuous efforts of the Provincial New Rural Area Coordination Office, the OCOP program has become one of the important solutions to improve the economic conditions of rural people. The development of OCOP products not only brings economic benefits but also contributes to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, building a prosperous and sustainable new countryside.
