Ha Giang strives to have 100 OCOP products by 2025, with 30% of OCOP entities being cooperatives; 20% being small and medium enterprises; 10% of craft villages having OCOP products contributing to the preservation and development of local traditional craft villages.
Ha Giang is a mountainous border province in the North with a strongly fragmented terrain that has created sub-regions of weather and climate with unique agricultural products. With the goal of promoting the development of modern agricultural products, in order to exploit the potential and strengths of the locality, Ha Giang province focuses on developing high-tech agriculture and building OCOP products.
Exploiting the available potential advantages, Ha Giang province has focused on developing products under the OCOP Program, closely following the objectives: developing forms of production organization, trading of advantageous products and services in communes, wards and towns; effectively implementing the group of criteria "Economy and forms of production organization" in the National Criteria Set on new rural construction.
Thanks to that, Ha Giang's OCOP products have been well received by consumers inside and outside the province. Expanding the development of OCOP products in ethnic minority areas has contributed to improving the knowledge and income of farmers; contributing to promoting the effective process of hunger eradication and poverty reduction and promoting the socio-economic development of the locality.
Products participating in the Ha Giang OCOP program include typical and key products; villages and tourist attractions of the province with cultural values and local advantages; especially regional specialties, craft village products, and tourism services based on strengths and advantages in natural conditions, raw materials, knowledge and indigenous culture.
To promote the development of OCOP products originating from agriculture, Ha Giang province has exploited and promoted unique agricultural methods of ethnic minorities such as: Growing corn in rock holes to make corn wine with yeast leaves; Using seeds of buckwheat flowers to make a specialty wine only available in the rocky plateau; Raising bees to exploit natural mint nectar, processing by hand and enjoying Shan Tuyet tea of the Dao, Nung, Pa Then, Lo Lo ethnic groups in the two western highland districts of Hoang Su Phi and Xin Man, raising carp in terraced fields of ethnic minorities to increase income and serve tourism development in Hoang Su Phi district, the practice of grazing and raising yellow cows of the Mong ethnic group in the four districts of Dong Van rocky plateau... These are unique characteristics in agriculture only available in the highland districts and have been exploited by the functional sectors of Ha Giang to develop the province's specific OCOP products.
To achieve the goal, Ha Giang province has issued many solutions and support policies to increase the value of OCOP products such as perfecting the management and operation system; organizing production in line with developing raw material areas; standardizing processes, standards and developing OCOP products according to the value chain, suitable to the advantages of production conditions and market requirements; improving capacity and operational efficiency for OCOP entities...
Strengthening technology transfer, digital transformation in production, market connection, traceability, especially the application of information technology; social sciences and humanities in developing OCOP products associated with rural tourism, preserving indigenous cultural values.
In particular, Ha Giang pays special attention to trade promotion, supply-demand connection through fairs, exhibitions, events to honor, promote, and introduce unique OCOP products annually associated with provincial, national, regional, local and international culture and enhancing digital transformation in the OCOP Program.
In order to promote the introduction, promotion and consumption of OCOP products, typical products of Ha Giang province, contributing to affirming the position of this brand in the market; honoring typical collectives and individuals whose products are certified to meet the province's OCOP standards, many events and fairs are organized. For example, on December 20, 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development jointly organized the "Space for promoting and introducing OCOP and typical products of Ha Giang province associated with the announcement of certification of OCOP products of Ha Giang province in 2024".
Opening the exhibition space is to create conditions for businesses, cooperatives, and production and business establishments in the province to have the opportunity to convey messages and product values of the unit to domestic and international consumers and tourists.
The program "Space for promoting and introducing OCOP products and typical products of Ha Giang province associated with the announcement of OCOP product certification of Ha Giang province in 2024" is also livestreamed directly on digital platforms of Ha Giang province.
