On the night of February 11, the 14th day of the first lunar month, Hoi An held the Tet Nguyen Tieu festival, an event with deep spiritual and cultural significance for the local community.

This is an occasion for people to pay respect to their ancestors and pray for a peaceful and prosperous new year. This day is also known as "Thien quan tu phuc", when the heavenly officials bestow blessings on all living beings.

On the 14th night of the lunar month, Hoi An organized the "Old Town Night" event, an annual activity that takes place on the 14th night of the lunar month every month. When the lights went out, the flickering candles created a magical space, the rows of houses and streets were brightly lit with lanterns, creating a romantic scene typical of Hoi An.

Ms. Kim Se-jin, a tourist from Korea, shared: "Tonight, I released flower lanterns into the river in Hoi An to pray for luck and peace for myself and my family. It was wonderful, I will definitely introduce Hoi An to my friends and relatives."

In the old town area, places like the Japanese Covered Bridge and along Bach Dang Street along the Hoai River attract many tourists to take photos and release flower lanterns to pray for peace and luck.

Souvenir and food services are also very busy. In particular, the boat service on Hoai River to see the old town at night becomes overloaded, tourists have to queue up to wait their turn.

An employee at a ticket office said that the number of tourists buying tickets was so large that the boat could not accommodate them, leading to people having to queue.

"We were also surprised by such a large number of customers, we couldn't handle it. Even though they had to wait, the customers didn't complain, they were willing to spend time to experience it," said the ticket seller.

In February 2023, the Lantern Festival in Hoi An was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, affirming the unique cultural value of this event.
