Vietnamese female boxer secures historic medal

On September 30, in boxing, Vietnamese boxers competed in 3 matches, in which Nguyen Van Duong lost to his opponent Uzbekistan, 57kg class, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran lost to her opponent North Korea, 54kg class.

Notably, boxer Luu Diem Quynh, 75kg, defeated her Nepalese opponent in the quarter-finals to enter the semi-finals.

Quynh is sure to win the bronze medal. If she wins against her Chinese opponent in the match on October 3, the Hanoi girl will enter the silver medal match.

For Vietnamese boxing, Quynh's medal is historic because this is the first time this sport has won a medal at the largest sports event in the continent.

Tonight, at the large, beautiful, modern, world-class lotus-shaped stadium in Hangzhou, China, Vietnamese Athletics runners Hoang Thi Anh Thuc and Hoang Thi Minh Hanh competed in the women's 400m final.

However, facing the top athletes of the continent and the large difference in skill level, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh finished in 6th place with a time of 53 seconds 91; Hoang Thi Thuc Anh finished in 8th place with a time of 55 seconds 61.

The gold and silver medal winners in this event were both Bahrainis. Adekoya Oluwakemi Mujidat won the gold medal in 50.66 seconds and Naser Salwa Eid Naser won the silver medal in 50.92 seconds.

Malaysian athlete Shereen Samson Vallabouy won bronze with a time of 52 seconds 58. Tran Thi Nhi Yen also competed at 9:40 p.m. in the women's 100m but finished last.

On the afternoon of September 30, weightlifter Pham Dinh Thi entered the final round of the women's 49kg weightlifting event. In the end, Pham Dinh Thi ranked 6th with a total lift of 184kg.

Golf also ended today's competition day with the men's singles ranking at 24.37/81 and the men's team ranking at 10/21...

According to local time tomorrow, October 1, Vietnam's weightlifting medal hope will take to the field.

Weightlifters Trinh Van Vinh and Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan will compete in the 61kg category, Group A, at 3:00 p.m.; Athlete Tran Minh Tri will compete in the 67kg category, Group A, at 7:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Chess team will also compete in round 5 at 2:00 p.m. This is also the last round to determine the team that will enter the finals.

The women's volleyball team will meet the Korean team at 10:30; the archery team will compete on the first day, starting at 9:00, in the men's 1-string and women's 3-string events.

In the afternoon of the same day, the archers will compete in the women's 1-string and men's 3-string bow events. The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team will also compete in the qualifying rounds for the men's and women's teams.
