NTO - German President visits Vietnam University

On January 24, President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited the Vietnam-Germany University in Ben Cat town, Binh Duong province. This activity is part of the State visit at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife.

Accompanying the German President were the Federal Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hubertus Heil, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam, Nguyen Van Phuc, and representatives of a number of enterprises. On the side of Binh Duong province, there was the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Minh.

After visiting the Laboratory of Production Technology, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier gave a speech to hundreds of students of the Vietnamese-German University.

The German President said he was very impressed with Vietnam today, which is a wonderful combination of tradition and modernity. He affirmed that although Germany and Vietnam are more than 10,000 km apart, the relationship between the two countries is not distant. Germany pledged to provide bilateral support to Vietnam in many areas such as ecological transition, infrastructure, economic structure, etc.

The German President appreciated the role and importance of Vietnam in the region and on the world stage. In addition, he pointed out many difficulties and challenges that the two countries are facing in the face of many fluctuations in the world situation. He believes that the two countries will continue to properly implement the rules, respect international law, and multilateralize and diversify friendly and cooperative relations. According to him, this will be an important factor to overcome difficulties and challenges together.

The German President assessed the Vietnam-Germany University Project as a "lighthouse project" for the close relationship between the two countries. Germany will continue to support Vietnam, doubling the current training scale of the University.

Along with the speech of the German President, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Hubertus Heil also had a dialogue with students of the Vietnam-Germany University.
