"Don't call me uncle"

Occasionally when we met, I would call him Uncle Huong, but he would say the familiar phrase "don't call me Uncle".

She added that most recently, the Vietnamese Wax Statue Company invited her and him to the workshop to measure the wax statue's measurements at the Vietnamese Wax Statue Museum, which is on display at Suoi Tien Tourist Area.

She met him again in the joy of an artist at an old age but still attached to the stage. "Brother Sau Van Huong was very happy, he was delighted to see me again. Because later, when People's Artist Minh Vuong organized a coffee meeting every weekend morning to meet colleagues who were attached to the Kim Chung stage, Brother Sau Van Huong attended a few times. Because I was busy performing regularly, I rarely had the opportunity to meet, Brother Sau told me about the time later when he faced many old-age diseases, he no longer opened a traditional singing shop at home, because his health did not allow it" - People's Artist Le Thuy emotionally said.

Hard to replace the "ugh" breath

People's Artist Le Thuy affirmed that, until today, although there are many artists following the humorous singing style of famous singer Van Huong, it is difficult for anyone to replace his very special "ugh ugh" breath when singing.

"We have the same starting point, both joined the Kim Chung troupe, and were both chosen by teacher Vien Chau to initiate the two genres "Tan Co Giao Duyen" and "Vong Co Hai". When I released the first "Tan Co Giao Duyen" disc with the song "Who are you?" music by Nguyen Huu Thiet, traditional lyrics by Vien Chau, then brother Sau Van Huong later released the disc "Tu Ech Di Sai Gon". We both remember teacher Vien Chau, without his breakthrough, creativity, and innovation, we could not have been loved by the public. Brother Sau recorded more than 200 Vong Co Hai songs, then at that time I contributed with many colleagues to bring Tan Co Giao Duyen into life with hundreds of recorded songs" - People's Artist Le Thuy recalled.

She also felt sad when in a short time, the cai luong stage lost many artists of her generation, after artist Thanh Duoc, there were artists Thanh Phu, then Van Huong, Huong Huyen. Before that, artist Bao Anh, although younger than her, also passed away.

"Our generation of artists joined hands in the profession, then became famous, were loved by the public and audience, and then could not resist time, illness, sickness and separation. Now, every day we can meet colleagues, confide and share with each other about how to overcome illness, which warms our hearts. Farewell to Mr. Sau Van Huong, colleagues and the public will always remember "Tu Ech" who was once famous for his humorous folk songs" - People's Artist Le Thuy cried.
