According to the Thanh Ha District Agricultural Service Center, it is now the time for lychee trees to produce winter shoots, but this year the rate of winter shoots is very low. If winter shoots on lychee trees are normally few, farmers will not have to prune the shoots. However, this year the lychee trees have produced too few winter shoots, causing Thanh Ha lychee growers to worry.
Most people believe that the lychee tree has few buds in winter, most likely because the roots are stuck, the root system was heavily affected by storm No. 3, so growth is poor, the tree is weak, and does not sprout.
Currently, the staff of the District Agricultural Service Center has increased inspection of lychee trees and instructed farmers to focus on taking care of the lychee areas that have not yet sprouted buds to stimulate growth. According to the center's assessment, if the lychee trees do not sprout buds by the end of this month and into early December, it may be difficult for them to flower.
Currently, Thanh Ha people are still focusing on taking care of the lychee trees so that they can recover after the storm. However, with the current situation, farmers still depend heavily on weather conditions and the vitality of the lychee trees.
