15/15 socio-economic, national defense and security targets achieved and exceeded the plan.
With the spirit of innovation, creativity, and determination in leadership and direction of the Party Committee and government, in 2024, Dong Ha City's economy will develop comprehensively and achieve many important results. Notably, 15/15 main targets on socio-economics, national defense and security will all meet and exceed the plan; economic growth rate will increase by 13.47% compared to 2023; total budget revenue will be 822,388 billion VND, reaching 164.48% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council and 117.12% of the estimate assigned by the City People's Council.
The work of calling for and mobilizing investment resources has been promoted, with a total social investment capital of VND 9,750 billion. The adjustment of the urban development program of Dong Ha City to 2045 has been completed and approved by the province; Dong Ha City has been recognized by the Prime Minister as a type II urban area.

The entire local political system actively, promptly, and proactively coordinated to speed up site clearance for construction projects in the area; urban planning, management, investment and construction of infrastructure, and urban embellishment to transform the scale and speed towards modernity and civilization.
Culture and society continue to receive attention, are implemented comprehensively and achieve many positive results; social security and sustainable poverty reduction are always given attention; national defense and security are strengthened, political security and social order and safety are maintained.
Party building work is focused on all aspects, the leadership method of the city party committee has many innovations, focusing on direction and management in a drastic, comprehensive, synchronous direction, closely following reality with high political determination. The work of developing party members is strongly directed and achieved outstanding results with the reception of 10 more grassroots party organizations and 261 party members under the city party committee, bringing the total number of grassroots party organizations to 77 party organizations, more than 7,700 party members.

At the meeting, the leaders of Dong Ha City reported on the preparations for the city's Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term; the implementation results of Resolution No. 18/-NQ-TW, dated October 25, 2017 of the 12th Party Central Committee on streamlining the organization of the city's political system; local difficulties and problems and key tasks in 2025.
Urban planning towards green and smart
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang requested the Standing Committee of the Dong Ha City Party Committee to lead and direct specialized agencies to urgently complete procedures and projects so that the Provincial People's Committee can soon consider and issue urban management regulations.
Focus on directing the implementation of the Project to adjust the General Planning for City Construction to 2045; adjust the zoning plans of wards to ensure science, long-term vision, unity, synchronization, connectivity and overcome shortcomings, avoid overlap between previous plans. Continue to plan urban development orientation towards green, smart, sustainable development associated with urban aesthetics.

Pay attention to and speed up the progress of urban technical infrastructure investment projects; complete new residential areas, gradually complete the traffic system, lighting, drainage, environmental sanitation, etc.; re-plan the local education network to meet the development requirements of the provincial center.

Concluding the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Long Hai emphasized that Dong Ha City has a particularly important role and position as the economic, political and cultural center of the province, requiring the locality to take the lead in all areas.
In particular, continue to do well the political, ideological, propaganda work, and orienting public opinion to create high unity within the entire Party, the entire political system, and consensus among the people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, focusing on the work of restructuring the apparatus of the political system and party congresses at all levels, the 14th City Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
Research to expand the city's administrative boundaries when conditions permit, on the basis of ensuring sustainable development factors, in accordance with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's plans, strategies, policies, and laws.
Focus on the city's development space based on the Hieu River as the central axis, closely linking with coastal cities, the Southeast Economic Zone, and Quang Tri Airport to create new vitality for the city to develop rapidly and sustainably.

Promoting all potentials and strengths of the provincial capital located at the intersection of the North-South Economic Corridor and the East-West Economic Corridor to continue creating new growth momentum, contributing significantly to the overall development of the province. In particular, the city needs to develop the economy in conjunction with restructuring and transforming the growth model towards concentration, improving the scale, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy.
At the same time, focus on solving employment, improving the material and spiritual life of the people, especially families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services; pay special attention to the quality of cadres at all levels, especially in areas where cadres are lacking and have limited capacity; do a good job of planning and arranging suitable cadres to improve the capacity, professional qualifications and skills of cadres and party members in the new situation.
