The family of Ms. Mai Thi Thao in Hamlet 4 (Ward 1, Gia Rai Town) is a near-poor household with housing difficulties. The newly built house is under construction and is almost finished. Ms. Thao's family has 6 members, her husband and 2 older children work far away; she and her 2 younger children have unstable incomes at home so they cannot afford to renovate or build a house. Living in a spacious house, without the sight of rain and wind, leaky roofs and slanted pillars is the wish of Ms. Thao as well as many other households in difficult circumstances, when their income is only enough to cover their living expenses, not enough to build a warm home without support from the State.
In the first months of 2025, in Ward 1 (Gia Rai Town), 30 houses for poor, near-poor and extremely disadvantaged households have started construction according to the set schedule. Mr. Huynh Minh Tri - Chairman of Ward 1 People's Committee, said: "Currently, the ward has 30 temporary and dilapidated houses according to the approved plan. Up to now, the construction progress has reached 60 - 70% and will be completed before April 30".
In this phase of removing temporary and dilapidated houses, Lang Tron ward has 63 households receiving housing support, Tan Thanh commune has 51 households, these are also the 2 communes and wards with the largest number of households receiving housing support in Gia Rai town.
In order to effectively and timely implement the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, all levels, sectors and People's Committees of communes and wards have proactively implemented all solutions, strengthened the supervision of construction progress in the spirit of 3 hard: "hard foundation, hard roof and hard frame" to ensure quality, in accordance with design models. This also shows the attention of the Party and State in caring for the spiritual and material life of the people, creating conditions for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households to have stable and safe houses, gradually improving their living conditions and creating motivation for them to rise out of poverty.
