On the morning of June 9, the Inspector of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health informed about a case of a woman who had liposuction and suffered a perforated abdomen, lost 6 liters of blood and fell into a coma.
Accordingly, the Department of Health Inspectorate has received a report from Cho Ray Hospital about a medical incident after cosmetic surgery at a medical facility in Ho Chi Minh City. The patient is TTLP (50 years old), currently being treated at the Emergency Resuscitation Department, Cho Ray Hospital. The Department of Health Inspectorate has established a working group to verify the incident.

The patient's relatives said that at 7:00 a.m. on June 6, the TTLP patient went to a cosmetic clinic in District 10 and had cosmetic eyelid surgery.
At 10:00 a.m. the same day, the patient was transferred to a cosmetic hospital in District 5 for liposuction surgery.
At 12:20, the patient underwent total abdominal liposuction and back liposuction with endotracheal anesthesia.
At 4:15 p.m., the patient's blood pressure dropped and the surgical team performed emergency resuscitation and then transferred him to Cho Ray Hospital.
The patient was admitted to Cho Ray Hospital emergency room at 7:00 p.m. on June 6 in a comatose state, with balloon compression via endotracheal tube, and unmeasurable blood pressure.
Immediately after admission, the patient underwent an abdominal CT scan, consultation, and emergency surgery, which was noted to be internal bleeding due to a rupture of the greater omental vessel. During the surgery to stop the bleeding, the patient was found to have lost 6 liters of blood and was given a blood transfusion.
After surgery, patients are monitored and cared for in the Intensive Care Unit.
By June 8, the patient was alert, responsive, had stable vital signs, and could communicate.
The Department Inspectorate has sealed the medical records of the TTLP patient according to regulations. At the same time, the Department of Health established a team of experts to survey and inspect the safety of surgery at the above-mentioned liposuction cosmetic hospital. The Department of Health Inspectorate continues to clarify and resolutely handle administrative violations in the medical field at cosmetic facilities (if any).
