Things to note on exam day to avoid unfair failure

At the same time, the Department of Education and Training affirmed to organize and closely supervise the exam invigilation to ensure fairness in this highly competitive exam.

THINGS YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT BRING INTO THE EXAM ROOM

With the selection of nearly 60% of the total number of students graduating from junior high school to enroll in grade 10 of public high schools, this is a fiercely competitive exam, requiring students to be careful in every task. Therefore, in addition to reviewing well, remembering the related regulations is something that cannot be ignored to avoid unfair failure.

The first thing to remember is that candidates must complete 3 exams (literature, math, foreign language) to be considered for admission to grade 10 of a public school. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training only considers candidates who meet 3 requirements: complete the required number of exams, do not violate exam regulations to the point of having their exam results canceled, and do not have any exams with a score of 0.

The second thing to remember for each exam session is that candidates must be present at the exam location on the scheduled date and time. Note that if they arrive more than 15 minutes late after the test start time signal, they will not be allowed to take the exam that session.

Candidates complete exam procedures on the morning of June 9

This is the first year that the Ministry of Education and Training has applied the revised regulations and supplements to some high school graduation exam regulations in the 10th grade entrance exam, including changes to the list of items allowed in the exam room. Candidates should note that they are only allowed to bring pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators without text editing functions, and no memory cards or Vietnam geography atlas for the geography exam. When taking the exam, candidates are only allowed to use the exam paper and scratch paper provided by the invigilator in the exam room, so there is no need to bring scratch paper. Candidates are also not allowed to use red ink pens under any circumstances, as this will be considered marking the exam.

The Department of Education and Training recommends that parents pay special attention to reminding their children not to bring cell phones into the exam room, because if they bring unauthorized items (whether intentionally or unintentionally), they will be suspended from the exam, which means getting a score of 0 and losing the right to apply to public schools.

The "inseparable item" that candidates must always bring with them when going to the exam venue is the 10th grade high school entrance exam ticket for the 2023-2024 school year. In case they forget their exam ticket, candidates can use their identification documents (such as citizen identification card) to enter the exam.

COMMITMENT TO NOT CUT OFF POWER TO EXAM SITES

Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, informed: Hanoi is the locality with the largest number of candidates registering for the 10th grade entrance exam in the country with more than 116,000 candidates registering for the entrance exam to non-specialized public 10th grade and specialized 10th grade of high schools.

The whole city has about 20,000 officials and teachers working in invigilation and grading. In addition, there are 590 supervisors at the examination sites and more than 1,000 police officers and soldiers performing the task of protecting the examination area. In hot weather conditions, all examination sites have maximized the conditions for health care for candidates. The electricity sector has committed to ensuring that there will be no power outages at the examination sites, but all 201 examination sites have backup generators.

To ensure objectivity, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires examination sites to assign invigilators according to the principle that each examination room will have two invigilators from two different schools; one invigilator will not invigilate more than once in one examination room. In addition, the city has 590 invigilators.

PARENTS NEED TO ENCOURAGE THEIR CHILDREN WHETHER THEY DO GOOD OR NOT

Many teachers also shared that after each exam, students need to take time to rest and relax to enter the next exam with the best mentality, avoiding negative impacts (if any) of the previous exam. Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong, Principal of Thai Thinh Secondary School (Dong Da District), said that parents need to encourage their children to be confident, not to put too much emphasis on the issue of scores, passing or failing for their children. In particular, do not look at the answers to each subject after each exam and ask your children to compare. Students' families also need to pay attention to avoid situations where their children fall asleep late for the afternoon exam. After the exam, according to Mr. Cuong, parents also play an important role in stabilizing their children's psychology, whether they do well or not. In case your child does not achieve their wishes, look for a non-public school for them to continue studying and encourage them to make efforts in the new journey.

Ready for the exam

Yesterday (June 9), candidates taking the 10th grade exam in Hanoi were present at the exam locations to complete exam procedures, correct any errors in their registration information (if any), and listen to the announcement of exam regulations and schedule.

According to Thanh Nien 's records at some examination sites, candidates and their parents arrived very early to complete the examination procedures, listening to the examination regulations with a variety of emotions, confident but inevitably nervous and anxious. Many candidates affirmed that they were ready to enter this examination, and at the same time, they were also mentally prepared to receive the results.

Vu Duc Hoang Long, a candidate at the Viet Duc High School (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) said: "I was afraid of traffic jams so I arrived at the exam site early to avoid missing important information. Although I was quite confident that I had prepared myself in terms of knowledge and mentality, I still felt quite nervous before a big exam." Meanwhile, many parents were so worried that they "couldn't sleep or eat."

At noon of the same day, many students and their parents went to the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam to burn incense and pray for good luck in exams.
