(NLDO) - The sight of vehicles waiting at red lights has become familiar at many intersections in Ho Chi Minh City.
More than half a month since Decree 168/2024 officially took effect, many traffic intersections in Ho Chi Minh City have witnessed strange images: vehicles seriously stopping at red lights, orderly and no longer in a chaotic jostling scene like before.
Vehicles wait at the red light at the Ton Duc Thang - Le Duan intersection, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
At the Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Cach Mang Thang Tam intersection around 3pm, despite the heavy traffic, no one tried to run the red light or climb the sidewalk to escape the traffic jam. The vehicles lined up neatly, strictly obeying the rules.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung, a security guard at a store near this intersection, shared: "In the past, whenever the road was crowded, many people would ride motorbikes on the sidewalks, knowing that it could be dangerous for pedestrians. But since the new Decree took effect, everyone is afraid of being fined. Who would dare to violate it if they lost a month's salary!"
Not only at the intersection of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Cach Mang Thang Tam, places like Vo Van Tan - Nguyen Thuong Hien, Vo Van Tan - Cach Mang Thang Tam or Nguyen Thi Dieu - Cach Mang Thang Tam also recorded similar changes. Vehicles strictly obey traffic signals, there is no longer the scene of vehicles crossing the line or stopping at the red light as before.

In the center of District 1, a similar scene also took place. At the intersection of Ton Duc Thang - Le Duan, even in the harsh midday sun, people still stood orderly waiting for the traffic light signal.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Phuong, an office worker, commented: "I see that people's traffic awareness has improved significantly after the new Decree. Although traffic jams still occur during rush hour, moving slowly is better than chaos and being stuck in one place."
Reporters were present at many other major intersections such as Hang Xanh intersection, Thu Duc intersection and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - Dinh Tien Hoang intersection (District 1) to record the situation. Here, people's awareness of obeying traffic laws has also changed significantly, contributing to improving traffic culture in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hang Xanh crossroads, a traffic area with many years of tension, people's traffic culture has become more disciplined.

In District 1, people should improve their culture when participating in traffic, and stop encroaching on pedestrian crossings.
In the suburban area of Thu Duc intersection, people still obey traffic regulations.
