In the general context of many difficulties and challenges, Binh Thuan's economy in the first 9 months of this year still recorded many "bright spots", especially with the 3 main pillars (industry - tourism - agriculture)...
Especially in the tourism industry, the locality took advantage of the opportunity to host the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", the expressway section through the province was put into operation... so it completed the basic targets 3 months early. Specifically, in just the past 9 months, the whole province is estimated to welcome 6.984 million visitors, an increase of 75.8% over the same period and reaching approximately 104% of the plan, while revenue reached 17,675.9 billion VND, nearly double the same period and exceeding the plan by more than 7%. Thanks to the bustling tourism, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the province reached about 68,790 billion VND, an increase of nearly 30% over the same period and reaching more than 80% of this year's plan. Of which, service revenue alone is estimated at VND 8,745.1 billion (up 52.85% over the same period last year) and revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel services is VND 16,352.8 billion (up 63.21% over the same period).
In the industrial sector, the industry's production value (at 2010 comparative prices) has so far reached approximately VND29,700 billion (up nearly 4% over the same period), of which the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning reached VND12,616 billion (up 11.42%). In industrial parks in Binh Thuan, in the first 9 months of this year, 6 more investment projects were attracted with a total registered capital of VND1,319 billion and USD3.6 million. Notably, a number of large-scale industrial projects of great significance in promoting industrial development in Binh Thuan have been approved by competent authorities such as Son My LNG Port Warehouse, Son My 2 Industrial Park... As for the agricultural sector, the production situation has maintained stable development, with the output of exploited aquatic products reaching nearly 175,900 tons (mainly from marine exploitation with more than 175,462 tons), reaching 83.76% of this year's plan and increasing by 2.41% over the same period last year. At the same time, the locality has also resolutely implemented the direction of the Central Government and all levels of sectors on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. Continue to focus on overcoming shortcomings and limitations in combating IUU fishing according to the conclusion of the European Commission Inspection Delegation.
The "bright spots" in Binh Thuan's economic picture in the first 9 months of 2023 are also reflected in the total social development investment capital implemented in the area, estimated at VND 30,738.6 billion, an increase of 7.47% over the same period. During the same period, the whole province had 30 new projects granted investment approval decisions with a total registered capital of more than VND 33,600 billion, 29 projects registered for adjustment with a total adjusted capital increase of VND 6,175.3 billion and 12 projects started construction, 10 projects went into business operation... Thanks to the gradual completion of the external transport infrastructure in the province, transportation and warehousing activities in the past time have also increased compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the sea traffic route Phan Thiet - Phu Quy also operates smoothly with high-quality means of transport, creating favorable conditions to serve the travel and sightseeing needs of the island district of both local people and tourists from everywhere...
However, in addition to the achieved results, Binh Thuan's economy in the first 9 months of 2023 also has problems such as: Production and business activities of enterprises and people have not yet overcome difficulties, the linkage of production, processing and consumption of agricultural products is still inadequate... It is noteworthy that the province's export turnover of goods, total state budget revenue, especially domestic revenue, has decreased compared to the same period last year, the disbursement of public investment capital to date has not reached the expected rate... Therefore, entering the last quarter of the year, the whole province will strive to complete each task, determined to achieve the highest economic targets, urgently disburse public investment capital and promote the progress of key projects. On the other hand, it is also necessary to regularly dialogue and remove difficulties and obstacles of enterprises and investors to implement projects, restore production and business and effectively implement budget collection.
For the three economic pillars, we will continue to focus on implementing solutions to promote growth in the industrial and agricultural sectors as well as strengthen promotion and take advantage of opportunities from the expressway to contribute to the sustainable development of Binh Thuan tourism. At the same time, we will actively coordinate and mobilize resources to effectively organize the remaining activities in the series of events of the National Tourism Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Convergence and aim for a successful closing ceremony.
