Vietnam won 1 rapid chess gold medal at the 2025 World Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship

The World Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship is a tournament for players in the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 age groups. On the night of April 15 (Vietnam time), the rapid chess event ended and we won a total of 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.

Chess player Nguyen Nam Kiet played impressively.

The only gold medal in rapid chess belongs to player Nguyen Nam Kiet in the U14 men's group. The players had to compete in 11 games according to the Swiss system to determine the final result. In this group, 2 Vietnamese players, Dau Khuong Duy and Nguyen Nam Kiet, both scored 9 points after 11 games, but Nam Kiet took the number 1 position thanks to a better tiebreaker coefficient. In 11 games played, Nam Kiet only lost 1 game (in game 8) to player Singh Siddharth (USA), and had 8 wins and 2 draws.

Khuong Duy is in second place with 9 wins and 2 losses. Also in the U14 group, we have player Duong Vu Anh winning the bronze medal with a total of 8 points.

In other men's results, Vietnam Youth Chess has silver medal of Nguyen Bao Nam in U8 group, bronze medal of Hoang Tan Vinh in U10 group.

For women, player Nguyen Thanh Huong won the silver medal in the U12 women's group. Thanh Huong tried her best and achieved 8.5 points after 11 games but could not surpass the player with the number 1 position, Yunker Alisa Genrietta (10 points).

In the U10 women's group, player Tran Hoang Bao An won a bronze medal and in the U18 women's group, Nguyen Binh Vy also won a bronze medal.

On April 16, the blitz chess event will begin and promises to bring dramatic matches. With the impressive performance shown in the rapid chess event, the Vietnamese team is expected to continue to reap success, especially in the categories where the players have proven their strength.

This year's tournament attracted more than 430 players from 48 countries and territories around the world, including 40 Vietnamese Youth Chess players.
