(Dan Tri) - In recent days, images of trucks carrying giant animal lantern models heading to Ocean City have been spreading, making thousands of residents and tourists excited, counting down the days to the Oriental Light Lantern Festival.
Collection of magical animal lanterns revealed in the East area
The Oriental Light Fest 2025 will kick off in Ocean City on January 18. In preparation for this cultural event, hundreds of artisans from five countries, including Vietnam, Korea, China, Japan and Thailand, have decorated and installed models specifically for this program.

One of the important pieces that make the Oriental Light Festival unique is the exhibition "Oriental Mystical Creatures - Lingnan's Strange Tales and Shanhai Jing", with a series of giant lantern models from Shanghai Yutuan Huadeng Culture and Creativity Group - a member of Fosun International Group. This is the owner of the Yuyuan Lantern Festival - Yuyuan Lantern Festival - recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of China.
The lantern products brought to Ocean City not only belong to the Son Hai Kinh collection that has been introduced in many countries around the world, but also have many new models, recreating familiar mythical animals in Vietnamese culture in particular and East Asian culture in general.
In particular, at VinWonders Wave Park, in the middle of the 18-hectare green wonder, the 7-meter-high Bach Long magical lantern has appeared. A cluster of 7.5-meter-long Arowana fish models and a 9-meter-long Loc Thuc with brilliant colors have also appeared, contributing to the liveliness of the surrounding landscape. Many residents and visitors when coming here are amazed by the majestic scenery like being lost in a fairyland, full of mythical colors.

"Although the lights have not been turned on yet, looking at the lines and scale of the giant lantern designs, I can imagine the scale of the Oriental Light Festival. My family is counting down the days to see these models lit up, it will surely be an extremely satisfying scene," said Mr. Bao Nam, a resident of Vinhomes Ocean Park 2.
Experience Journey at the Oriental Light Festival
The lantern clusters under construction in Ocean City have partly revealed the mysterious and familiar experiences of the exhibition "Oriental Mystical Creatures - Linh Nam Chich Quai and Son Hai Kinh". These lantern clusters are all inspired by legendary stories in East Asian culture.
For example, the mythical beast Lu Shu once appeared in the notes of the book Shan Hai Jing : "Three hundred and seventy miles to the east is Mount Niu Yang, to the south there is much copper, to the north there is much silver, there is a beast, shaped like a horse but with a white head, stripes like a tiger, a red tail, a cry like a human singing, named Lu Shu...". From these vivid descriptions, the artisans of Yuyuan created the cluster of Lu Shu lamps - the mythical beast appearing in the middle of a colorful miniature landscape, symbolizing fertility.

Or in Linh Nam Chich Quai as well as many other Vietnamese legends, the image of the Golden Turtle God continuously appears as a symbol of patriotism and the spirit of fighting against foreign invaders. With that inspiration, talented artisans created the Co Loa work with a pure Vietnamese Golden Turtle God up to 4m high.
In addition, "Oriental Mystical Creatures - Lingnan's Strange Tales and Shan Hai Jing" also brings many lantern clusters symbolizing the cultural exchange between Eastern countries.
Along with that are models of flying fish, snakes in the 12 zodiac animals, Asian dragons... designed by the Yuyuan team specifically for the exhibition in Ocean City. These works of art will take visitors on a journey to experience and explore unique Eastern culture.

In addition to the splendid light and color performances from the lantern clusters, visitors to Oriental Light Fest 2025 will also enjoy the 58-day Spring Festival series (from January 18 to March 16) with 580 unique experiential activities.
The Spring Fair includes 3 main fair series: Tet Fair, Giang Vo Spring Fair, Ocean Fair Market, which will bring hundreds of booths and diverse entertainment programs to meet the needs of tourists, from shopping to entertainment, culinary exploration, and art enjoyment.
After many years, the once famous Giang Vo Spring Fair will return in the version of "4,000-year Tet, Tet of 5 kingdoms". This event not only revives the ancient Vietnamese Tet culture but also introduces to visitors Tet culture from all over the world with specialties from China, Japan, Korea, India, Sri Lanka, etc.
With a series of events, Ocean City will become the leading cultural, entertainment and tourist center in the North during the early Spring.
