Quang Tri Having stable jobs and good income, many girls in Quang Tri volunteer to join the army, continuing their family's tradition of serving in the army.

Today, Tran Thi Phuong Thao, 24 years old, from Trung Nam commune, Vinh Linh district, said goodbye to her family to join the army at a unit in Hanoi.

After graduating from Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, majoring in veterinary medicine, Thao went to Binh Duong to work as a manager of a large livestock farm with a salary of 18 million VND per month. After working for half a year, hearing that Quang Tri province had a quota for recruiting female soldiers, Thao called her family to express her desire to join the army and serve long-term.

Seeing that his daughter, who had a stable job and income, wanted to join the army, Mr. Tran Trong Thien and his wife were surprised. However, having served in the Air Defense - Air Force, Mr. Thien understood the military environment well and supported his daughter's decision.

"My grandfather and father served in the army, so I want to become a soldier to continue the family tradition. I am still young and want to strive and develop myself in the military environment," said the female veterinarian.

More than 120 km from Thao's house, Ho Ha Bao Thuong, 22 years old, in Lia commune, Huong Hoa district, is also eagerly waiting for the day of enlistment on February 26. Thuong is the first female Pa Ko soldier to volunteer in Huong Hoa district.

In September 2023, having just graduated from Hue Medical College, majoring in Pharmacy, Thuong volunteered to join the police force. Thuong said that she often worked as a model for Ao Dai, photo shoots, and Festival programs since her student days. This job paid well, but she gave it up to fulfill her biggest dream of becoming a soldier.

Having lived in the border area with Laos since childhood, her father worked as a border guard, so Thuong understands the hardships of soldiers. "But living and studying in a disciplined military environment will help me mature," Thuong said.
