The rapid socio-economic development of the Red River Delta region has created an urgent need to build more bridges connecting traffic between Bac Giang and Bac Ninh to promote trade, develop tourism and enhance cultural exchange.
From above, Tho Ha village (Van Ha commune) is surrounded by the poetic Cau river. |
First of all, we must mention the Van Ha bridge project. According to the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, the Van Ha bridge construction investment project aims to connect Van Ha commune, Viet Yen town (Bac Giang province) with Hoa Long ward (Bac Ninh city). The project includes the main bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge.
The bridge construction location is determined according to the Bac Ninh Urban Master Plan (adjusted) and the Bac Ninh City Urban Zoning Plan. The bridge route connects from the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Theater area to Van Ha commune.
Van Ha Bridge has a total length of about 360m and a width of 12m. The total estimated investment is about 220 billion VND. The project is expected to start construction in 2025 and be completed in 2026.
Next is the Ha Bac 1 bridge project. Recently, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province issued an official dispatch on coordinating investment in the construction of Ha Bac 1 bridge and the connecting road between Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces.
The Nhu Nguyet bridge expansion project is considered to have solved traffic congestion on the Hanoi - Bac Giang highway. |
The project, named "Investment in the construction of Ha Bac 1 Bridge and connecting roads between Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces", aims to strengthen transport infrastructure and promote socio-economic development between the two provinces.
The construction location of Ha Bac 1 Bridge is determined according to the Bac Ninh Provincial Planning and Bac Giang Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister.
Ha Bac 1 Bridge is designed with a width of 22.5m, permanent structure of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete. The total length of the bridge is about 970m, with the approach roads at both ends of the bridge invested according to the plan to ensure synchronous connection with the regional traffic system.
The total investment of the project is expected to be around 1,700 billion VND. According to the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, investment preparation will be carried out in 2025, with construction expected to start in 2026 and be completed in 2027.
When completed, Ha Bac 1 Bridge will contribute to strengthening traffic connections and promoting socio-economic development between Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and the entire region.
Ha Bac 2 Bridge construction project across Cau River, connecting Bac Ninh province with Bac Giang province. |
Previously, the Ha Bac 2 bridge project was also implemented across the Cau River, connecting Bac Giang with Bac Ninh. Currently, the Ha Bac 2 bridge and the Bac Giang approach road have been invested in by the Bac Giang Province Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, and have been completed for nearly a year now.
This bridge plays an important role in connecting Viet Yen and Hiep Hoa districts (Bac Giang) with Yen Phong district (Bac Ninh), creating momentum for socio-economic development and opening up favorable trade opportunities between the two provinces.
The project has a total investment of more than 358 billion VND from the central and provincial budgets, and will be implemented in the period of 2021-2024. The bridge is 490m long, 16m wide, built with prestressed concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete. The approach road is more than 1,500m long, designed according to the standards of a grade III plain road, with a 12m wide roadbed, 11m wide road surface, and asphalt concrete structure on crushed stone aggregate foundation.
On June 16, 2023, the Nhu Nguyet Bridge expansion project (phase 2) was officially inaugurated and put into use, removing traffic congestion on National Highway 1 connecting Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Lang Son, Bac Giang.
The project has a total investment of more than 450 billion VND, starting from April 2022, with the Bac Giang Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works as the investor. The project includes the bridge and the two-sided approach roads, with a total length of about 1.32 km, of which the length of Nhu Nguyet Bridge is about 439.15 m.
The completion and putting into use of the expanded Nhu Nguyet Bridge has solved the traffic congestion that has lasted for many years, especially during rush hours, contributing to improving the exploitation capacity of the Hanoi - Lang Son expressway.
The Nhu Nguyet Bridge expansion project is considered to have contributed to solving traffic congestion, reducing accidents, and improving the exploitation capacity of the Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway. The project not only promotes socio-economic development but also ensures security and defense in the region.
In addition, the bridge expansion creates ventilation for the gateway to Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, attracts investment and meets the increasing travel demand, especially of key industrial zones.
Previously, the first bridge across the Cau River, connecting Bac Ninh and Bac Giang was Dap Cau Bridge. Initially, the bridge was built entirely of iron structure, similar to Long Bien Bridge, only allowing motorbikes and trains to pass, with no lane for cars.
By 2017, the Dap Cau Bridge Expansion Project was implemented, building a new bridge parallel to the old iron bridge, helping to enhance connectivity between the two provinces. The bridge expansion not only solves travel needs but also creates favorable conditions for economic development, especially industrial parks, commercial services, and cultural and historical tourism in the Kinh Bac region.
The bridges connecting Bac Ninh and Bac Giang are not simply transportation works but also "bridges of hope," opening up a bright future for this land rich in tradition.
