According to the Daily Mail, the terrorist organization holding the father of striker Luis Diaz promised to release him after receiving pleas from the Liverpool player. The armed group called ELN said they sympathized with the concerns of Luis Diaz's family and pledged to follow through with their announcement a few days ago that they would release the hostage.
"I beg you to release him, keep him whole and end this painful wait as soon as possible," Luis Diaz shared on social media after Liverpool's match last night.

The Colombian wrote: " Every second, every minute that passes, our suffering increases. My mother, my brothers and I are desperate, worried and no words can describe this feeling. This suffering will only end when my father returns."
He also called on international organizations to help rescue his father.
Luis Diaz's father, Luis Manuel, was kidnapped in his hometown of Barrancas last weekend. The Liverpool striker immediately returned to the area to work with local authorities to try to contact and convince the armed group to release him. In response, the ELN put forward a number of conditions to ensure his safety.
'The area is still militarized, they are carrying out cross-border flights, dropping troops and offering bounties as part of the conflict campaign. This situation does not allow for the plan to release people quickly and safely,' Daily Mail quoted a representative of the ELN armed group.
The organization also confirmed that Luis Diaz's father is safe and will be released as soon as the ELN confirms it can do so safely.
After unsuccessful attempts to negotiate with the terrorist organization, Luis Diaz returned to England to carry out his mission with Liverpool FC. He was brought on in the 83rd minute of the match against Luton Town and scored the equalizer in injury time to help the team earn 1 point.
