Many positive results in university admissions in 2024

Evaluating the 2024 enrollment work, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the enrollment work has achieved many positive results: The basic system is stable, schools and society have accompanied the education sector in enrollment work to facilitate candidates.

Reporting on the assessment of the 2024 enrollment work at the Conference to summarize the assessment of the 2024 enrollment work and deploy the enrollment work in 2025 and 2026 for universities and colleges of education organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education Nguyen Anh Dung said that in the 2024 enrollment work, many indicators were better than in 2023. The rate of training institutions with over 80% of candidates enrolled was 71.38%, an increase compared to the previous year (2023 reached 63.04%). The rate of candidates enrolled also increased, reaching 80.68% (in 2023 it was 78.24%). According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung, this reflects the success of the enrollment work, as well as the effectiveness of educational institutions.

In terms of enrollment areas, there is not much difference compared to 2023, but there is a significant improvement in the STEM field, which has increased by nearly 20,000 students compared to 2023. The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that this clearly shows the shift in learners' access to higher education, society's trust in the quality of STEM training in the context of the country promoting development momentum related to science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, while also affirming the contribution of higher education in the country's development process.

Admission methods in 2024 are more diverse than in 2023, but still mainly focus on using high school graduation exam results, combining high school graduation exam results with high school transcripts; results of some capacity assessment exams of higher education institutions. Among the methods, the main role is admission using high school graduation exam results and high school transcripts (more than 80%).

Regarding the 2025 enrollment work, Deputy Director Nguyen Anh Dung said that there are some new points: Circular No. 06/2025/TT-BGDDT dated March 19, 2025 amending and supplementing a number of articles in the Regulations on university and college enrollment in preschool education stipulates: No more early enrollment; must use the learning results of the entire 12th grade for enrollment; publicize the conversion rules equivalent to the admission score; no limit on the number of admission combinations; Use appropriate foreign language certificates to convert to foreign language subject scores in enrollment; total points do not exceed 10% of the maximum score of the enrollment scale...

This year, the Ministry of Education and Training continues to announce the input quality assurance threshold for teacher training and health sectors.
