On May 27, the leader of the People's Committee of Tay Son District (Binh Dinh) said that the People's Committee of the district has recently proposed the Ministry of Transport and Project Management Board 2 (investor of the project to enhance traffic connectivity in the Central Highlands region) to support compensation for people affected by the project.

Immediately after the petition was sent, the project investor transferred 13.7 billion VND to the locality to pay compensation to households affected by the National Highway 19 upgrade project.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Vice Chairman of Tay Son District People's Committee, said: "After receiving the above amount, we have paid 7 households subject to the total clearance and 9 households in the Bau Sen bridge area. The investor promised to transfer the remaining amount soon". Currently, there are still 30 households affected by the National Highway 19 upgrade project waiting to receive support and compensation.

As Thanh Nien has reported many times, the project to upgrade National Highway 19 (part of the project to enhance traffic connectivity in the Central Highlands region) is invested by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Transport). The project is 143 km long, passing through Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, with a total investment of about 155.8 million USD (more than 3,600 billion VND). The project construction period is from August 2021, expected to be completed in 2023, but was later extended.

Up to now, the project to upgrade National Highway 19 has not been completed and has revealed many shortcomings. Specifically, the road surface is full of potholes in many sections due to slow construction, some sections are under construction but not watered, causing dust to fly everywhere. In addition, when building a temporary bridge at Ba La bridge area (Tay Giang commune, Tay Son district), the contractor only built one lane but the traffic volume on National Highway 19 is very large, so traffic jams often occur.
