Many suggestions for North-South high-speed railway

On the afternoon of November 30, the National Assembly voted to approve the draft Resolution on the investment policy of the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis. According to the plan submitted by the Government to the National Assembly, the North-South high-speed railway line will start in Hanoi (Ngoc Hoi station) and end in Ho Chi Minh City (Thu Thiem station), passing through 20 provinces and cities with a route length of about 1,541 km. Previously, at the meeting on the afternoon of November 20, the plan to locate the station far from the center also received many opposing opinions. For example, Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi), is about 11 km from the current station in the center; Hue station (Thua Thien-Hue), is about 20 km from the center...

Many National Assembly delegates believe that passenger stations should be located in the inner city, if they are located in the suburbs, additional investment in connecting roads will be required. Practical experience from developed countries shows that the number of passengers carried by national railways is very large, bringing all of them to the urban center will greatly reduce the load on travel and connection between railway traffic and other modes of transport.

Centrally located station for ease of travel

Readers (BD) agree with this project, suggesting planning the station in the center of urban areas for the convenience of passengers: “I have lived in Hanoi since I was a child, I think that the North-South high-speed railway station should be located at the existing Hanoi station to pick up and drop off passengers. Similarly, regarding the case of Hue station being located in Phu My commune, Phu Vang district, 20 km from the center, Dinh Tran Van, the project manager, stated: “That place is a very remote and low-lying area located to the east of Hue city center. This railway line will certainly narrow the flood discharge aperture of the downstream, even if the viaduct option is implemented.”

“If we consider the long-term when cities expand their space, it is reasonable to place the station outside the central area. But for now, we will still build the station in the central area for convenience. When cities increase their area, the main station for picking up and dropping off passengers will be re-planned and moved to a nearby station outside,” Trung Quan suggested.

Connected by metro, bus

Some real estate developers believe that the station should be located outside the central area. Specifically, real estate developer SnA supports the planning of Ngoc Hoi station: “In my opinion, connecting passengers at Ngoc Hoi station in the south, and goods at Gia Lam station in the east is reasonable with the new land fund for the station. The station is connected to the center by urban railway and bus.”

According to Long Ho Real Estate: “The metro station should be moved outside the city center, with bus routes connecting the station with bus stations. The entire route should be connected, not the current situation, with the station in one place and the inter-provincial bus station in another, which is very inconvenient and difficult for passengers.”

“The option of the high-speed rail line going into the city center is not feasible because of the high cost and design, which causes traffic congestion. The new fishbone route option is more effective. Arrange more buses or a metro system to connect to the city center. For aviation and roads, the airport and bus station must be moved to the edge of the city to have enough space to serve passengers,” emphasized BD 5Xfe.

*I strongly support the North-South railway. If the railway passes through Khanh Hoa province and my land is affected by the road, I will donate it without asking for compensation.

*The station should be located outside the city and the route should be as straight as possible. My hometown is Nam Dinh but I do not support the curved railway line all the way to Nam Dinh city.
