Many innovations at Vietnam Creative Startup Day 2024

On November 21, the Ministry of Science and Technology held a press conference to inform about the Vietnam Innovation and Startup Festival 2024 (Techfest), chaired by the ministry and organized in coordination with ministries, branches, and localities.

After 9 years of organization, Techfest Vietnam has become an important event, attracting the attention of policy-making agencies, managers, corporations, businesses, creative startup support organizations, domestic and international investment funds, etc.

At the same time, it connects domestic and international resources for the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the global creative startup map.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Hoang Minh - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, said that the 2024 Creative Startup Festival will mark a turning point for the creative startup ecosystem. The format, components, and content have been adjusted compared to previous years to suit the new stage, keeping up with the new era of the country.

At the meeting, Mr. Pham Hong Quat - Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises, said that in previous Techfests, Vietnam has achieved many good results, in which the start-ups after winning prizes were able to participate in major competitions around the world.

Through the competition, startups are trained in professional skills such as presenting in English, building business models to attract investors, etc. From there, it helps startups gain the mindset, experience, and capacity, and then win many awards in the ASEAN region, Asia, or globally. Some startups raise capital from 0.5 to 1 million USD, and are highly appreciated by investors.

“The competition is not a place for startups to come and raise capital immediately. This is an environment for training and competition to continue competing and develop products globally,” Mr. Quat emphasized.

According to Mr. Quat, the new point of Techfest this year is that large domestic and international corporations will participate, not just angel investors or venture capital funds. Therefore, placing articles, purchasing products, putting them into distribution channels, and training with senior experts from corporations will bring great benefits to startups with visionary thinking and a larger market.

The Techfest Vietnam 2024 event series will take place over 3 days, from November 26 to 28 in Hai Phong city with the spirit of "joining hands to develop the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem" to introduce, inspire and honor outstanding achievements of creative startup activities in businesses and the whole society.

The festival includes many activities, typically the opening ceremony of Techfest 2024, a high-level policy dialogue forum, an exhibition of innovative startup products/services, a series of in-depth seminars on developing an innovative startup ecosystem, investment connections, a contest to find Vietnamese innovative startup talents, etc.
