Many US 'eagles' want to expand investment in Vietnam

SpaceX wants to provide satellite internet service in Vietnam

SpaceX is a large corporation in the United States and the world's leading provider of spacecraft, satellite defense services and satellite communications. At the meeting, Mr. Tim Hughes - Senior Vice President in charge of Government Relations and Global Business and senior leaders of the corporation highly appreciated Vietnam's development potential in the coming time.

He said SpaceX plans to expand its investment in Vietnam, hoping to provide Starlink (satellite internet) services in Vietnam, thereby helping to provide broadband internet services in signal "depression areas".

The Prime Minister highly appreciated SpaceX's investment and business activities globally in recent times; welcomed SpaceX's initiative to propose expanding investment cooperation in Vietnam, thereby contributing to promoting digital transformation and the digital economy; said that he would assign relevant agencies to discuss and guide the group in implementing cooperation and investment projects within the legal framework; and asked the group to give comments on related policies.

The Prime Minister said that satellite internet services need to ensure quality, convenience and reasonable prices to be able to compete with other technologies and other businesses.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also asked SpaceX to carry out cooperation activities to promote innovation in Vietnam in the coming time.

Vietnam is one of the three most important markets of Pacifico Energy.

Pacifico Energy Corporation (headquartered in the United States) is the largest solar energy investor in Japan; one of the fastest growing private renewable energy corporations in the region and in the Asian market.

Since 2012, Pacifico Energy has raised over $4.6 billion for dozens of projects (including solar, wind, offshore wind, and battery storage) with a total capacity of about 8.5 GW globally, concentrated in Japan, the US, South Korea, and Vietnam.

In Vietnam, Pacifico Energy is currently the largest US renewable energy investor with the 40 MW Mui Ne solar power project in Binh Thuan and the 30 MW Sunpro wind power project in Ben Tre.

At the meeting, Chairman of Pacifico Energy Group, Mr. Nate Franklin, highly appreciated the establishment of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the working visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the US.

He said that Vietnam, along with Japan and Korea, are the three most important markets of the group, wishing to continue investing in the renewable energy sector in Vietnam and shared the idea of ​​developing offshore wind power in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always welcomes, encourages and creates favorable conditions for foreign investors, including investment projects in the renewable energy sector in the spirit of "harmonious benefits and shared risks" between the State, enterprises and people, and comprehensively calculating all five factors including power source, power load, distribution, power use and electricity price suitable to the affordability of people, enterprises and the economy.

The Vietnamese Government welcomes and encourages new investment ideas and plans of Pacifico Energy Group in renewable energy and clean energy projects, and commits to accompany, support and create all favorable conditions for Pacifico Energy and its partners to implement effective, successful and sustainable investment and business activities in Vietnam. The Prime Minister requested the Group to coordinate with agencies and partners in Vietnam to implement projects in accordance with regulations, ensuring publicity and transparency.

Coca-Cola shifts production towards green

Coca-Cola is a business operating in the field of manufacturing and distributing beverage products, present in most markets around the world, with a total workforce of 700,000 people, revenue in 2022 reaching about 43 billion USD.

In Vietnam, after nearly 30 years, Coca-Cola has a total accumulated investment capital of more than 1 billion USD, with 3 beverage manufacturing factories in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and has just started construction on another factory in Long An.

Mr. Hames Quincey, Chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola, reported on the situation and plans for future operations and business in Vietnam in the direction of green production and environmental protection, hoping to continue receiving support from the Government in the investment process in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the company's performance in Vietnam and its sustainable business strategy to promote green production, social responsibility and environmental protection; and requested Coca-Cola to continue implementing and shifting the production structure of its factories in localities of Vietnam towards sustainable development, using clean energy and protecting the environment.

Regarding the group's proposals related to global minimum tax, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam will refer to international experience and design appropriate policies in the spirit of win-win, harmonized benefits, and shared risks.
