Although the expected admission rate this year is higher than in 2022 with an estimated 85 - 90%, Van Lang University still considers additional admission with 3,000 quotas for all majors except public relations and multimedia communications, by all methods of considering high school graduation exam scores, academic records and competency assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

"The majors with the highest additional recruitment quotas are concentrated in the fields of technology, engineering, and life sciences... Based on previous years' experience, this year some schools predicted that the number of students applying for some majors would be lower than the quota, so they boldly accepted applications for additional recruitment early, right after the time when students were not registered on the Ministry of Education and Training's system. In addition, some students do not have an account on the system or cannot register for admission on the system, so they only have the opportunity to consider additional recruitment. Therefore, these schools will have a better source of recruitment," said Dr. Tuan.

However, overall, according to Dr. Tuan, the source of recruitment for the additional round will not be much because most PhDs already have many opportunities to choose from during the registration process on the system.

However, the computer science, business and law majors, especially "hybrid technology" majors such as digital marketing, digital business or e-commerce, still maintain great appeal due to their potential and wide-open job opportunities.

This additional round of admissions will have very few candidates. Partly because most of the students have already passed at least one of their wishes, partly because the additional admissions are not trending majors.

"After the virtual filtering process, it is hoped that the number of virtual admissions will decrease compared to previous years. Every year, there are still cases of admitted students who do not enroll, or students who have chosen another program to study, or the admitted major or school does not meet their wishes, so they wait for the opportunity to consider additional admissions. However, some attractive majors have met their quota, so students should also carefully consider refusing to enroll," Master Tu noted.

Saigon International University plans to consider additional admissions for the majors of accounting, Oriental Studies and English with a score of 17 or higher.

According to Mr. Tu, if any school has too few students enrolled after this first round, it will be difficult to recruit enough because the number of applications for consideration is usually very small, due to the limited number of candidates.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS: FIELDS WITH QUOTAS ARE OFTEN "CRITIZED" BY CANDIDATES

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has decided to recruit 10 additional majors, including thermal engineering, chemical engineering technology, seafood processing technology, nutrition and culinary science, food processing science, textile technology, fashion and textile business, environmental engineering technology, resource and environmental management, food quality assurance and safety.

Partly because most of the students have passed at least one of their wishes, partly because the additional recruitment majors are not trending majors while now students are all attracted to economics, law, tourism... Although the majors that TS "criticized" have very high recruitment demand and quite attractive salaries."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung, Director of the Media Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, commented that compared to the announced threshold for ensuring input quality, many majors at the school have increased their standard scores by 1 - 3 points. In particular, majors such as information technology, information security, automotive engineering technology, electric vehicle technology, multimedia communications, graphic design, and marketing all increased by 2 - 3 points.

"This result is associated with the current career choice trend of PhDs, especially the preference for majors in the field of communication - marketing. Compared to 2022, many majors in this field at the school have significantly increased benchmark scores such as marketing increased by 3 points, multimedia communication increased by 2 points, digital marketing and public relations increased by 1 point", shared Master Xuan Dung.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology also continues to accept additional admission applications for all majors based on transcripts until 5:00 p.m. on September 10.

Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to accept additional admission applications by considering the results of the 2023 high school graduation exam, high school transcripts, and the results of the Competency Assessment Test of Ho Chi Minh City National University or Hanoi National University.

The additional admission score is based on the standard score announced by the school, with the medical major being 23.5 points based on graduation scores and 8.4 points based on academic records.

"However, the number of admission quotas at the school is limited, especially for majors such as medicine, pharmacy, nursing...", said a school representative.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Khac Cuong, Vice Principal of Hong Bang International University, informed that the school will consider additional admissions for 37 majors in all methods including considering the 2023 high school graduation exam scores, academic transcript scores, Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment scores, and SAT scores. The time for considering additional admissions is from now until September 6.
