On January 4, information from Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited stated that in 2024, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant operated stably with an average capacity of 113%. The enterprise processed 83 million barrels - equivalent to 11.4 million tons of crude oil.
From this crude oil source, the company has produced and sold more than 9.7 million tons of various products; of which 8 million tons are gasoline and the rest are petrochemical products.
To meet raw materials for production, in 2024, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC imported 42 large crude oil tankers, with output increasing by 13.62% over the same period.
From value added tax from crude oil imports and other taxes, in 2024, the enterprise contributed more than 996 million USD to the state budget, equivalent to more than 24,700 billion VND.
Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project has a total investment of nearly 9.3 billion USD, with a phase I capacity of 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day, equivalent to 10 million tons of crude oil per year, nearly double the capacity of Dung Quat Refinery.
This is the largest petrochemical refinery project in Vietnam with four investors: Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Kuwait Petroleum International Company KPI, Idemitsu Kosan Company and Mitsui Chemical Company of Japan.
The project started in October 2013 and was completed in April 2018, using the world's most modern oil refining technology. Kuwait is the country that provides all crude oil for the entire life of the project.
The factory's products include: LPG, A92, A95 gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet fuel, paraxylene, benzene, polypropylene, sulfur.
According to Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant has been contributing to the economic growth of Thanh Hoa province, increasing local budget revenue, ensuring national energy security, and creating momentum in attracting investment in supporting industries after petrochemical refining in Thanh Hoa.
