Former Speaker of the Korean National Assembly: Vietnam will have the highest growth in the region

On the afternoon of July 2, during his official visit to Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Kim Jin Pyo, Chairman of the Korea Global Innovation Research Association. Mr. Kim Jin Pyo is the former Chairman of the Korean National Assembly.

He visited Vietnam in January 2023 as Chairman of the National Assembly of Korea and during this visit, he attended the inauguration ceremony of the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) headquarters.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Mr. Kim Jin Pyo for his affection for Vietnam and his important contributions to the bilateral relationship in his various positions, especially the relationship between the two countries' legislative bodies.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Korea, the first visit by a senior Vietnamese leader to Korea after the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022, Mr. Kim Jin Pyo believes that the relationship between the two countries will develop even more strongly in the coming time.

The former Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea highly appreciated the drastic and effective direction and management of the Vietnamese Government and the strong development of the Vietnamese economy in recent times. In particular, GDP growth in 2024 alone could reach 6% - the highest in the region.

Mr. Kim Jin Pyo announced and proposed a number of projects and cooperation plans with Vietnam that he personally, the Korea Global Innovation Research Association and Korean agencies will implement in the near future.

Specifically, continuing to support the expansion of Hue Central Hospital (following the program to support Hue Central Hospital, branch 2); the plan to build a medical human resources training center in the Central region; Korean language and vocational training for Vietnamese youth, especially in nursing, to be able to work in both Vietnam and Korea; exchanging experiences on applying artificial intelligence in education; supporting connections with global innovation activities...

Welcoming these proposals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said he would assign relevant agencies to continue specific discussions with the Center to implement specific cooperation projects and programs.

The Prime Minister hopes that the Korea Global Innovation Research Association and the Vietnam National Innovation Center will enhance cooperation, exchange experiences, and participate in each other's innovation ecosystems in a practical and effective manner.

Emphasizing that Mr. Kim Jin Pyo has always been a close friend of Vietnam, the Prime Minister said he is ready and wishes to meet him again in Vietnam to review and continue to implement the discussed work, contributing to promoting the friendship and good relations between the two countries.
