(Dan Tri) - Retail sales of goods in the first 9 months alone reached more than 3.57 million billion VND, up 8.4%. The increase in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City was 4.8% and 3.9% respectively compared to the same period.
According to the General Statistics Office, commercial activities in September were more vibrant than the previous month due to the September 2 holiday and students entering the new school year.
Specifically, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in September is estimated at VND524,600 billion, up 2.4% over the previous month and up 7.5% over the same period last year thanks to the high demand for essential goods such as food, foodstuffs, cultural and educational items for the new school year and accommodation, catering, tourism and travel services continuing to maintain a positive trend.
In the third quarter of 2023, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue are estimated at VND 1,550 trillion, up 1.9% over the previous quarter and up 7.3% over the same period last year.
In the first 9 months, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices is estimated at nearly VND 4,570 trillion, up 9.7% over the same period last year (up 20.9% over the same period in 2022), if excluding price factors, it increased by 7.3% (up 16.6% over the same period in 2022).
Of which, retail sales of goods in the first 9 months were estimated at over VND3.57 trillion, up 8.4% over the same period last year (excluding the price increase of 7%). The group of cultural and educational items increased by 12.8%; food and foodstuffs increased by 11.4%; garments increased by 7.8%; household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 4.9%; and means of transport (excluding cars) decreased by 1.6%.
Retail sales of goods in the first 9 months compared to the same period last year in some localities such as Hai Phong increased by 11.9%; Quang Ninh increased by 10.9%; Dong Nai increased by 9.9%; Binh Duong increased by 9%; Khanh Hoa increased by 8.7%; Can Tho increased by 8.2%. Meanwhile, this index in Da Nang increased by only 5.2%; Hanoi increased by 4.8%; Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) increased by 3.9%.
Revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first 9 months is estimated at VND500,100 billion, up 16% over the same period last year. Revenue in the first 9 months compared to the same period last year in some localities such as Ho Chi Minh City increased by 24.6%; Da Nang increased by 24.5%; Quang Ninh increased by 22.5%. The increase in Hai Phong was 13.8%; Ha Nam increased by 11.9%; Hanoi increased by 10.5%.
Tourism revenue in the first 9 months is estimated at VND26,500 billion, up 47.7% over the same period due to the high demand for tourism after a long period of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the beginning of the year, localities have actively implemented many activities to stimulate tourism demand. Revenue in the first 9 months in Da Nang increased sharply by 139.9%; Quang Ninh increased by 98.8%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 91.3%; Hanoi increased by 67.4%; Hai Phong increased by 50.9%; Can Tho increased by 39.6%.
Revenue from other services in the first 9 months is estimated at VND469,100 billion, up 11.5% over the same period. Specifically, while Lao Cai increased by 22.9%; Da Nang increased by 15.7%; Phu Yen increased by 14.7%; Quang Ninh increased by 13.9%; Tien Giang increased by 12.3%; Can Tho increased by 9%; Hanoi increased by 8.7%; Hai Phong increased by 6%, Ha Giang increased by 2.9%; Quang Nam increased by 1.4%, Ho Chi Minh City decreased by 0.9%; Hoa Binh decreased by 6.2%.
